Travel to Yunnan during the New Year

It is best not to join a tour group when going to Yunnan. It is cheaper to go in winter because it is the off-season. I stayed in Lugu Lake for three days last year and saw less than 30 tourists in total. I started from Beijing, flew to Kunming, then from Kunming to Dali, then to Lijiang, Lugu Lake, then back to Lijiang, and flew back to Beijing from Lijiang. Nine days, 3,000 yuan, including air tickets, is quite cheap. As for documents, bring your ID card. If you have a senior citizen ID card, a military ID card, or a student ID card, you can also bring it with you. It may be useful.

The winter climate in Yunnan is characterized by a large temperature difference between morning and evening. But it depends on the place. If you are in Kunming, it will not be very cold even at night, so long sleeves and long trousers are enough. It is generally very warm during the day. Kunming can reach more than 20 degrees, so you can wear short sleeves. Xishuangbanna is even hotter, it’s estimated to be over ten degrees Celsius even at night, and it’s hot and humid.

If you go from Kunming to Dali, Lijiang, Lugu Lake, and Shangri-La, it will get colder and colder. Especially in the morning and evening. I went there during the winter vacation last year and wore a sweater. The room was particularly cold, which is difficult for northerners to adapt to. However, most inns will have electric blankets, so it was fine when sleeping, but it was painful to take a shower!

Special reminder, if you go to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, wear long-sleeved trousers, sports shoes, and a jersey. If you are really afraid of the cold, just wear a sweater. There is no need to rent a military coat. Normal people don’t even need oxygen bottles. Don’t wear one. As a tour guide~

The ultraviolet rays in Yunnan during the day are quite strong, and it can make people feel sunburned even in winter, so be sure to wear sunscreen, sunscreen, sun hat, sunglasses, gloves, etc. Yes, long silk scarves are also very useful. They can protect your neck from getting tanned during the day and keep warm in the morning and evening~

Generally speaking, it won’t rain in winter, so just bring a pack of disposable raincoats just in case. . It may snow on the snowy mountains, but not elsewhere. There will be no mosquitoes, so mosquito coils can be saved.

It is recommended to go directly to Lijiang, because there is nothing particularly worth visiting in Kunming and Dali. There are seagulls migrating from Siberia in Kunming Green Lake in winter, but the time is very short, and you may not be able to catch them; Dali is too windy. The city is also bare with white thorns. Although Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake are famous, the scenery is not as good as Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Lugu Lake, and the ancient city is far inferior to Lijiang.

It is best to stay in the ancient city when going to Lijiang. There are two ancient cities in Lijiang. The more famous is Dayan Ancient City. It is really well built and very lively. Although winter is the off-season for tourism, it does not feel desolate. Shuhe Ancient City is very quiet and has a strong Tibetan flavor. There are many caravans. You can sign up for a local one-day tour. I signed up for a one-day tour of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Dongba Valley, and Blue Moon Lake and Baishui River from Bailu Travel Agency. It felt pretty good. The tour guide was very good and the service attitude was also good. Basically No time wasted, but the price is a bit high, 500 per person.

You can go to many places from Lijiang, such as Lugu Lake, Shangri-La, and Meili Snow Mountain. You can often see announcements looking for travel companions on the inn’s blackboard, so you don’t have to worry about not being able to find companions~ You can also go there by yourself. I highly recommend Lugu Lake. The highway should be repaired this year. I believe it can be reached in four or five hours. Staying in a Mosuo family can experience the pure Mosu culture, such as walking marriage and Tibetan Buddhism. The scenery is also beautiful, and it feels like arriving in a paradise~

It’s a pity that I didn’t continue walking to Tiger Leaping Gorge last year. It is said that the scenery there is getting better and better. However, it is getting colder and colder. It is a pity that there are no flowers blooming when going to Shangri-La in winter, but it is the right time to go to Meili Snow Mountain. Although Yulong Snow Mountain is more famous, in fact there are not many glaciers anymore. Meili Snow Mountain is more spectacular, but it seems to be quite far away. I don’t know if it is easy to walk on the road. Please pay attention to safety if you go there~

Basically, people in Yunnan Not bad, I didn’t meet any bad people anyway. Prices are not high, and the products are quite unique. Shopping in Lijiang Old Town is very affordable. You can always buy unique handicrafts, such as Dongba wind chimes, wood carvings, Bai embroidery, Dongba drums, etc. The food is also good. Dali is famous for its silk noodles, Kunming’s rice noodles are authentic, Lijiang’s yak jerky, grilled fish, and walnut cakes are delicious, and Lugu Lake’s home-cooked dishes are all good~

Go in winter It will save money because it is the off-season. I stayed in Lugu Lake for three days last year and saw less than 30 tourists in total.
