Winter Tour in Xi'an: The pomegranate tree in front of Little Luobotou's tomb has grown up, and someone has hung a wind chime
This is Xiaoyu’s travel diary, stop and go, and see Xi’an with me.
After visiting Du Gong Temple and Niutou Temple, walk along the plain to Weiqu Street, where you will find the Cemetery of General Yang Hucheng. For many people in Xi'an, they came here to visit tombs during the Qingming Festival activities organized by the school during their middle school days, but perhaps not many make a special trip to visit.
PS. For the specific content of Du Gong Temple and Niutou Temple, you can read my last travel note:
There is a "lonely" celebrity memorial hall in Xi'an, which is free and no one is there. Go, the locals don’t know it at all
There is a temple on the outskirts of Xi’an. It is ordinary on the outside, but it is very interesting inside
There are two memorial halls related to Yang Hucheng in Xi’an, one is In the Zhiyuan Villa on Qingnian Road in Xi'an, and in the Yanghucheng Cemetery beside Weiqu Shaoling Plateau in Chang'an.
Zhiyuan Villa is Yang Hucheng's former residence in Xi'an. It is now also the "site of the Xi'an Incident" and is a national cultural relic protection unit. After the Xi'an Incident broke out, Yang Hucheng was forced to go abroad for inspection. In 1937, he returned to China for the sake of the Anti-Japanese War. He was immediately detained and kept under house arrest for 12 years until he was secretly killed in Chongqing on the eve of liberation in September 1949.
In 1950, Yang Hucheng's body was transported back to Xi'an from Chongqing and finally buried in this cemetery on the bank of Shaoling Plateau.
Walking into the General Cemetery, there are few tourists, the pines and cypresses are evergreen, and a sense of solemnity and solemnity arises spontaneously. Across the high stone steps, there is a stele pavilion. On the stone stele standing in the middle of the stele pavilion, the front is engraved with the characters "Yang Hucheng Martyrs Cemetery" written by Ye Jianying; on the back is the date of December 16, 1949. **A telegram of condolence to the family of General Yang Hucheng. The last sentence of the condolence telegram is: "Today's sacrifice will be mourned by the people forever." Perhaps, the expectations of that day have now been realized.
Go around the stele pavilion and continue to climb the steps, which is the cemetery area. Among the lush and relaxing cypresses, General Yang Hucheng rests here.
There are several tombs scattered around the tomb of General Yang Hucheng. After visiting the general's tomb, we walked around and found that his two wives, Xie Baozhen and Zhang Huilan, and his son Yang Zhengmin were buried here with the general.
In addition, there are Zhang Xingmin and Yan Jiming, general Yang Hucheng's adjutants, secretary Song Qiyun, Xu Linxia and his wife, and their child Song Zhenzhong.
When it comes to Song Zhenzhong’s name, perhaps everyone is not familiar with it. But if we talk about "Little Carrot Head", nine out of ten people have heard of it. Yes, this kid named Song Zhenzhong is the smart and cute "little carrot head" that we all know but has a rough fate. He had been imprisoned with his mother since he was 8 months old. He was only 8 years old when he was killed, making him the youngest revolutionary martyr in our country.
There is a pomegranate tree in front of Little Carrot Head’s tomb. According to the stone tablet in front of the tree, this tree was cultivated and planted here when his sister Song Zhenping went to Chongqing in 1984, cut off a branch of the pomegranate tree that Little Luobotou had planted that year. After 36 years, the original branches have grown into a big tree.
When we visited in winter, the leaves of this pomegranate tree had fallen off, and there were a lot of red silk tied to the trunk. It was obviously someone who had taken good care of it. I don’t know who also hung a wind chime on the trunk of the tree. The breeze came and made a tinkling sound. It also made us stand in front of the tomb with thoughts abound.
Finally, let’s talk about some practical travel information. Friends who want to come can refer to:
1. General Yang Hucheng Cemetery is open to the public for free, and you can enter the park with your ID card.
2. The specific location is in Shuangzhu Village, Weiqu, Chang'an District, Xi'an. There is a dedicated bus stop called "Yanghucheng Cemetery". If you are coming from downtown Xi'an, take Metro Line 2 and get off at Weiqunan Station. You can walk there directly. The distance is very close. Of course, you can also take the bus at Xizhai Crossing, which is only two stops away.
3. On a small road next to the General Cemetery, there are Du Gong Temple and Niutou Temple, both of which are free and can be visited together.
4. There are also thousand-year-old temples such as Huayan Temple and Xingjiao Temple nearby. They have a long history and profound heritage. Humanities and tourism enthusiasts may wish to visit.
