Thailand. com reported that on February 25, 22, according to Thai media, due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the UAE authorities issued an announcement asking its citizens to suspend their travel to Thailand and Iran from February 24, local time. It is reported that the announcement is only for UAE citizens, and foreign citizens including Thais can still leave the UAE normally, and Thai citizens can also enter the UAE normally.
In addition, according to the news of KUNA, Kuwait announced on February 25th local time that the authorities would temporarily not issue visas to people going to Thailand, South Korea and Italy. People living in Kuwait (immigrants) and those who have obtained Kuwaiti visas will be refused entry by the Kuwaiti authorities if they have entered the above three countries in the past 14 days, even though their visas have not expired.
If Kuwaiti citizens come from Thailand, South Korea and Italy, they will be sent to the designated place for isolation when entering Kuwait. Prior to the above announcement, the Kuwaiti authorities suspended flights to and from the above three countries.
On February 24th, local time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates issued a statement saying that in view of the current development of the epidemic situation in novel coronavirus, it issued a travel ban on Iran and Thailand.
The statement said that the UAE made this decision in consideration of the current epidemic prevention and control in the country and public health and safety, and called on its citizens and local residents not to travel to Iran and Thailand in the near future.
Previously, two new cases of pneumonia infected by novel coronavirus were confirmed in UAE, involving an Iranian couple. On February 19th, Iran first announced that there were cases of COVID-19 infection in China. In just six days, 61 cases were confirmed and 12 people died.
Up to now, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in UAE has reached 13, and 4 China patients have recovered and been discharged.
