What should I do if my monthly salary is less than 3,000 and I want to travel abroad but the air tickets are too expensive?
I have the right to speak on this issue. Let me tell you how to travel abroad with a lower monthly salary and share my experience with everyone.
I started traveling abroad in 2014 and have been to: Cambodia, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand, and Singapore. I travel abroad twice a year for free travel. The time interval between each trip is about half a year. The cost each time is basically 5,000 yuan and no more than 6,000 yuan. Before I traveled abroad, I had 5,000 yuan in personal savings and fixed deposits every month. So every time I travel, I use up my savings and then prepare a new travel fund.
I don’t think I travel on a budget, but I don’t think it’s a luxury travel either. It can basically be considered an economical travel. I have seen people spend 800 yuan to travel to Hong Kong for 7 days before. I have never been such a great person, but I can travel more comfortably on a small budget.
The first thing to solve when traveling abroad is air tickets. No matter where you go, air tickets and accommodation will always account for the majority of travel expenses. If we can save money on this part, this trip will basically be very affordable.
When I go to Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand and Singapore, I always book "flight + wine". "Flight + Wine" as the name suggests is air ticket + hotel. This is a concept that has only become popular in recent years. When I first started ordering, there were relatively few websites, but now they are everywhere. When you open a travel website (such as Ctrip.com, Tongcheng.com, Tuniu.com... I won’t explain the ones I use myself, so as not to accuse me of writing soft articles and advertising), there will be a "Flight + Wine" column in it. . In other words, you entrust a travel website to book air tickets and hotels for you, because the travel website can get relatively cheap air tickets and accommodation prices, so it is generally cheaper than booking the same air tickets and hotels yourself.
For example, when I went to Singapore in February this year, the "flight + wine" package provided Shenzhen Airlines flights and Festival Hotel and Capital Hotel. Before I made the reservation, I first searched how much it would cost if I booked flights and hotels for the same period of time. After a comparison, I found that it was nearly 2,000 more expensive for me to order it myself than to order it through an entrusted website. So, without saying a word, I placed the "machine + wine" order.
But even though I strongly recommend the "flight + wine" package, I still can't deny that it has the following shortcomings: 1) It limits the round-trip flight time and hotel stay. If you apply for an upgrade or change, the cost is generally very expensive; 2) To some extent, you can’t do whatever you want. So, if you want to book it yourself, you can do that.
We can choose low-cost airlines as much as possible. As far as I know, Air Asia’s air tickets are very cheap. AirAsia's routes are basically non-Southeast Asia, mainly to Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines. But the departure places are basically in more developed first- and second-tier cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Changsha... So, if you happen to be in these cities and want to go to Southeast Asia, taking AirAsia is a good choice. You must know that you can fly to Singapore for 500 yuan on AirAsia. I have also seen flights from Shantou to Bangkok for 96 yuan including tax. Another point to note is that since it is a low-cost airline, baggage check-in and meal charges must be calculated separately.
After saving money on air tickets, you can use the remaining money on local food, drinks and fun. I hope you have fun in a foreign country.
