Why is Chengdu called Rongcheng?

Chengdu is called Rongcheng mainly because it comes from a kind of hibiscus flower originated in southwest China, and hibiscus flower is the city flower of Chengdu, so Rongcheng refers to Chengdu. Because during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, Chengdu planted hibiscus all over the country, so Chengdu was named after flowers, also known as Furong City.

Mount Qingcheng
