Three Mountains
In Xinjiang, I introduced to you that the largest province in China has "three mountains and two basins", and the Tianshan Mountains in the middle divide the vast Xinjiang into southern Xinjiang and northern Xinjiang.
Tibet is the second largest province in China, which borders Xinjiang in the west. Its land is also divided by three east-west mountains, namely Kunlun Mountain, Gangdise-Nyainqentanglha Mountain and Himalayas from north to south. Among them, Gangdise-Nyainqentanglha Mountain not only divides Tibet into higher-lying southern Tibet and higher-lying northern Tibet, but also serves as the "Hu Huanyong Line" of Tibet, which is the dividing line between densely populated and sparsely populated, with alpine pastoral areas to the west of the north and sparsely populated. In the south is the valley forest belt (Yarlung Zangbo River and its tributary Lhasa River are located here, and Linzhi, known as the "southern Tibet", is also located here), with a relatively dense population.
qingtangula, this is a familiar name and a strange image to me.
I am familiar with it because it has the same name as Himalaya, Everest and Yarlung Zangbo River. It is a mysterious word about Tibet that I heard when I was very young. Strange, because it is as mysterious as Himalayas, Mount Everest and Yarlung Zangbo River. I have almost no concept except the name (which is also the largest and highest in the abstract). Let's start with this well-known mysterious mountain peak.
the sacred mountain-Tanggula
Before appreciating the magnificence of Nyainqen Tanggula, we should give you some geographical knowledge about popular science.
There is also a mountain range in Tibet called "Tanggula Mountain". Although the name is similar, it is different from Nyainqen Tanggula Mountain.
Tanggula Mountain is located in the southeast of Nyainqen Tanggula Mountain, which is the dividing line between Tibet and Qinghai. The word "Tanggula" means "a mountain on the plateau" in Tibetan and "a mountain that eagles can't fly over" in Mongolian. The average elevation is about 6m, and the highest peak, Gladin Cave, is 6621m above sea level. As the source of the Yangtze River, it is famous all over the world.
"Nyainqen" means "the second arrival" in Tibetan, so "Nyainqen Tanggula" can be interpreted as "the second Tanggula", but I think this "second" is probably just a named Tanggula and a mountain on the plateau that the eagle can't fly over. Let's call it "the second Tanggula".
Introduction to Namtso Lake
In fact, Nyainqentanglha's altitude and position in the hearts of Tibetans are the first. The average altitude is more than 6 meters, and the main peak Nyainqentanglha is 7111 meters above sea level. Nyainqentanglha has another name in Tibetan-Ling Ying Prairie God. It is one of the three sacred mountains, the main god of the northern grassland gods and the famous protector of Tibet. From the early Yongzhong Buddhism to the later Tibetan Buddhism, Tibetans endowed this mountain with many legends, which made it stand out from many snow-capped mountains and become the king of mountain gods.
among all the legends, the most romantic one is the love story of Nyainqentanglha and Namtso, the holy lake in Tibet at the foot of the mountain. In people's imagination, the holy lake is a gentle and demure beauty, and the sacred mountain is a handsome warrior, who has spent thousands of years together.
Today's trip is from Lhasa to the south, crossing Nyainqentanglha and meeting Namtso. It is said that Nyainqentanglha is short-tempered and jealous. Had an affair with Ji Bo and Namco, and cut off Ji Bo's legs. However, he can't stop the wave after wave of love for beauty. Namco is so charming!
A tourist guide to Namtso Lake
At six o'clock in the morning, before dawn, a group of people set out from Lhasa. This trip is more than 4 kilometers back and forth, with high mountains and dangerous roads and low speed.
On the way, we passed Yangbajing, a small town in Dangxiong County, Lhasa, which is famous for its rich geothermal resources, and the local plateau hot springs are also a must.
After driving for two hours, I finally saw Nyainqentanglha at a rest stop, which is really a "mountain on the plateau". Wang Anshi once wrote a poem, "I am not afraid of clouds covering my eyes, just because you are at the highest level." On the plateau, standing at the foot of the mountain is "not afraid of floating clouds" -the cloud is at the foot of the mountain, but it is higher than the snow line! (Perception from a specific angle)
After another two hours, I came to the observation deck of Nyainqentanglha, and I could see the endless grassland. Because of the cloudy day, the distant mountains are looming.
(The landscape stone shows that it is 452 meters above sea level)
The plateau is still very cold in late autumn and rainy days, and clouds cover the majestic mountains. The only bright color is the green grassland, and many people still capture a trace of beauty on the observation deck.
(The yak head under the railing is a totem worship of Tibetans, which means a peaceful town house)
(The god of Ling Ying grassland, the grassland is there, where are you? )
except for climbing the sacred mountain before dawn at the rest stop, I didn't see the expected charm on the viewing platform dedicated to viewing. Travel is like this, it may not always be what you want, but it also has unexpected happiness.
Since Nyainqentanglha refuses to appear in the clouds, let's start again, change the time from another angle, and maybe we can reappear.
Nagenla
From Nyainqentanglha observation deck to the north, we soon saw the gate of Namtso National Park. The holy lake is not far away, but we are still climbing. The holy lake is on the other side of the mountain and needs to pass a mountain pass.
As the sun rises, the clouds gradually disappear, and the gray sky turns blue, but the temperature does not rise with it. Instead, it became colder and colder, and we finally climbed to the highest point today, Nagara Pass.
59 meters, more than 6 meters higher than the last stop. 6 meters further up, you will reach the snow line of Nyainqentanglha. Above that, it is the white cold all year round, the forbidden area of life.
standing at the mountain pass, the cold wind roared and the path was hunting, like a herd of horses whistling in the strong wind. No wonder Caiqi Yang is also called "Wind Horse".
Every mountain pass in Nyangora is sacred, and it is a bridge connecting southern Tibet and northern Tibet. Nagenla is the only way to Namtso and the entrance from the holy mountain to the holy lake. Therefore, the prayer flags here are colorful, showing faith and spreading wishes.
If Nyainqentanglha is a soldier, I am standing on the shoulder of a soldier at this moment. In addition to the blue sky and white clouds, I looked around, desolate and magnificent.
Outside the frozen wasteland, not far to the west, in the gap of heavy clouds, a touch of pure blue comes into view, inconspicuous, but enough to show a warmth in the desolation. It is Namtso, a saint, who makes warriors dream and feel jealous, makes believers respect the sacred lake they love, and makes us yearn for the sacred land.
is a smooth road connecting "samurai" and "sage". * * * The same road is unique in the blue sky and grassland. The traffic on the road does not affect the enthusiasm of tourists to take pictures. If you catch a short gap, you can take a picture immediately, so that you won't meet a sky road stretching out to the sky everywhere.
After just over ten minutes, I took a photo, blew the wind, and hurried down the mountain to hug Namtso. If I don't leave, I may be frozen into a "queen stone" and stay on the shoulders of young Tanggula forever.
Holy Lake
On the landscape stone of Nagenla Pass, there is a famous sentence of Cangyang Jiacuo:
In that year, I kowtowed and bowed down on the mountain road, not for an audience, but for your warmth;
at that time, I went from mountain to water to stupa, not to repair the afterlife, but to meet you on the road.
Unlike the sentimental Cangyang Gyatso, most Tibetans (not just Tibetans) turn to mountains and rivers to cultivate the afterlife. According to Tibetan Buddhism, conversion to the holy mountain can wash away their sins for a lifetime; Turn ten times and five hundred cycles to avoid going to hell; Turn 18 times, and you can become a Buddha in this life.
So, every year, many Buddhists go to Tibet, go sightseeing, spend a few days or even dozens of days, walk or even kneel, and travel dozens or even hundreds of kilometers, just to purify their hearts.
There are many sacred lakes in the sacred mountain, all of which are chosen by good men and women, among which Nyainqentanglha and Namco are among them.
Namtso, which means "Tianhu" in Tibetan, is the highest lake in the world, the second largest lake in Tibet and the third largest saltwater lake in China (after Qinghai Lake and Selinchuo in Tibet) at an altitude of 4,178 meters.
In Mongolian, Namtso is called "Tengger Caspian Sea" (or "Tianhu Lake"). Although some inland areas call the lake the sea, the lake of more than 2, square kilometers looks like the sea at first glance.
Around Nagenla Pass, the grassland is still a little deserted. Along the way, it is more and more full of vitality, with herds of cattle and sheep and fertile grassland. In addition to yak and sheep grazing, this is a specialty of the plateau, as well as precious medicinal materials such as Cordyceps, Saussurea involucrata and Fritillaria.
near the lake, the cold and desolate feeling has disappeared, replaced by brightness and luxuriance.
On the way into the lake area, there are two big stones called "Lovers Stone" and "Welcome Stone", which are the door gods of Namtso. The mountain behind them is warm red, showing their enthusiasm in the quiet sky blue and water green.
if you go further, you will see the beautiful lake in a glance.
a narrow gravel road separates a small pool from the big lake. Clusters of bright aquatic plants are floating in the water. The stone road provides the direction of reflection. The aquatic plants render the cool lake water, and with the blue sky and pure white clouds, it looks like a fresh and bright oil painting. It's so beautiful, no wonder Nyainqentanglha is fascinated by it.
the most striking thing by the lake is yak. They lined up in a row by the lake, waiting for visitors under the traction of their owners. They are gentle, gentle and loving.
the host is much more enthusiastic. Visitors who are close to you will immediately hold hands and sing you a tibetan songs without saying anything. You are so enthusiastic, I'm sorry to walk away. After listening to this song, you will make friends. Some people will spend the night by the lake and watch the stars. A day's food and shelter naturally hopes for friends' patronage.
Unlike the calm yaks, the gulls are free and lively, swimming in the lake in twos and threes or soaring in the air.
To judge Namtso's most upstart plateau creatures, honest yaks and lovely fishing gulls, they will all be defeated by the hairy "pointed sheep" below.
This is the most arrogant sheep I have ever seen. It is not timid and gentle at all, but full of ferocity: anyone can rub it as long as I like; Anyone can take it as long as I hate it. "Arrogance" is not only making pies, but also the taste of "spicy eyes", the fattest sheep you can imagine.
when it smells the food carried by tourists, it will immediately gather around and rub your legs. Don't try to slip away. The more you slip, the more it chases, and it won't stop until it reaches its goal, unless you can't even see the lake. In this way, it will look for the next target.
despite its "bad" personality and "touching" smell, tourists still like it very much, share food with it and pat it affectionately on the head. Perhaps I am too spoiled, in its heart: "I" is the most beautiful girl in the beggar's gang!
Let's look further and see the vastness of Namtso landscape.
As a sacred lake and Buddhist shrine in Tibet, prayer flags and Manidui can be seen everywhere on the shore. Some are just a pile of stones, some are hung with prayer flags and Hada, and some are colorful, engraved with six-character mantra and various auspicious patterns. This is the sustenance of religious belief and the inheritance of primitive art.
The people who come to Namtso are not only tourists, but also believers who shake their prayer tubes and silently recite the scriptures. It is said that people who are destined to overlook the holy lake on the hills near the lake can see the supernatural phenomena that bode well and ill. So it used to be a place where Tibetan Buddhism performed day and night divination. Every summer, many lamas come here to make a pilgrimage and watch the lake to predict the future.
In the eyes of believers, Namtso is a holy place for prayer and practice.
When you have different moods, you will see different Namtso. Everything is like this. Look at the world, and the world will appear before you.
in the distance of the sacred lake, there is a sacred mountain covered with snow. Thousands of years ago, they looked through the original, and thousands of years later, they will still look through the original. The reason why holiness is "sacred" is probably because compared with our short and changeable lives, they appear eternal and stable.
The most fascinating beauty of Namtso is that at night, everything is silent, far away from the starry sky polluted by light in the city. You can see the cantilever
One of the beams of light may come from a star hundreds of millions, billions or even billions of years ago. When it sets out, the earth may not be born yet; By the time it arrives, the consciousness that can receive its eyes and recognize it has been born on the earth; It will continue to move forward, and human beings lament the beauty of this moment. In terms of the scale of its journey, this night is just a trivial moment.
Thousands of years of sacred mountains and lakes, you will admire the eternal greatness; Billions of years of shining stars, you will sigh forever small.
