History of Hongshan Lake

Hongshan Reservoir, also known as Hongshan Lake, is located in the east of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, in the middle reaches of Laoha River, the main stream of West Liaohe River, at the junction of Songshan District, Aohan Banner and Wengniute Banner of Chifeng City, Taohai Town of Wu Dun, and Wengqi, the resident of Hongshan Reservoir Management Bureau. It is about 90 kilometers away from Chifeng, Xinhui and wudan, with superior geographical position and convenient road traffic. National Highway 305 runs through Hongshan Lake Tourist Area.

Hongshan Reservoir 1958+00 started construction in June, 1960 closed the main dam in June, and 1965 was completed and put into use. It lasted for 7 years, involving 50,000 migrant workers, with a total engineering quantity of 9 165438. After two phases of reinforcement, the accumulated investment of the project has exceeded 300 million yuan.
