When traveling to Xinjiang as a family, what local delicacies should not be missed?
1. Xinjiang Chicken
Speaking of Xinjiang, the first thing that comes to my mind is not mutton skewers but chicken! Large plate chicken is really only authentic when eaten in Xinjiang. In fact, my favorite thing to eat is the wide noodles in large plate chicken. Paired with the thick soup, it is simply a pleasure! A big plate of chicken, potatoes, and wide noodles, perfect for sharing with friends!
2. Xinjiang hand-picked rice
You can’t eat authentic hand-picked rice outside Xinjiang! Mutton, mutton fat, carrots and fragrant rice are cooked together. Uyghurs also like to add some raisins to it for seasoning! This rice really fills your mouth with fragrance as soon as you eat it. Eating two bowls at once is not enough!
3. Grilled Nang
Xinjiang’s grilled Nang is also a local delicacy that cannot be missed! Most kebab shops sell grilled naan. I especially like the freshly grilled naan. It tastes crispy and fragrant!
4. Mutton Skewers
Speaking of Xinjiang, how can we miss out on mutton skewers? As the birthplace of mutton skewers, Xinjiang’s mutton skewers are more authentic than other places! The large pieces of fresh lamb are roasted at just the right temperature and taste tender and delicious! When you arrive in Xinjiang, you have to have a great time!
5. La Tiaozi
La Tiaozi is the name of Xinjiang noodles. Xinjiang noodles are really delicious! Add a variety of beef, mutton, tomatoes or other vegetables, and it is a very enjoyable combination of meat and vegetables! For a noodle fanatic like me, Xinjiang Tiaozi is an indispensable part of every meal in Xinjiang! My favorite thing to eat is beef pulled slivers. The fragrant soup is accompanied by soft beef and smooth noodles. It’s a perfect match!
Of course, in addition to these, Xinjiang milk tea, baked buns, rice intestines and noodles are all Xinjiang delicacies that cannot be missed!
