Which country does Typhoon Samba originate from?

Severe Tropical Storm Sanba (English: Severe Tropical Storm Sanba, international number: 2316, Joint Typhoon Warning Center: 16W) is the 16th storm to receive an international number in the 2023 Pacific typhoon season. The name "San Ba" is provided by Macau, China, and refers to the Ruins of St. Paul's, a tourist attraction in Macau. It is used to replace Typhoon Pearl, which was delisted in 2006 due to a major shipwreck and casualties in Vietnam. This is the third time that "Sanba" has been used.

The predecessor of Typhoon Sanba was a tropical depression that formed in the South China Sea on October 17, 2023. It strengthened to a tropical storm level on the afternoon of October 18, and formed in Hainan around 9 a.m. on October 19. It made landfall along the coast of Dongfang City in the province and intensified into a severe tropical storm level that night. It made landfall again on the coast of Suixi County, Guangdong Province around 9:45 am on October 20. The weakened tropical depression made landfall for the third time in Lingao County, Hainan Province at about 19:40 pm on the same day, and finally made landfall at 23:00 that night. Numbering has been stopped by the Central Meteorological Observatory.

Typhoon Samba is a typhoon generated in the South China Sea in autumn. It is weak in intensity, has a loose structure but has a complex path, and has prominent rain disasters [46]. It has brought significant impacts to Hainan, Guangdong, Guangxi and other places in China. Strong winds and rains have caused severe flooding in many places in Guangdong and Guangxi.
