Hulun Lake, also known as Lunchi. Mongolian means "sea lake". The Fiona Fang of Hulun Lake is 800 miles long, with rippling blue waves, like a crystal pearl, embedded in Hulun Buir grassland. Hulun Lake is one of the four largest freshwater lakes in China, the fifth lake in China and the largest lake in Inner Mongolia.

Hulun Lake is located between Xinbaerhu Zuo Qi, Xinbaerhu Right Banner and Manzhouli City in the west of Hulunbeier Grassland. It is an irregular oblique rectangle with its long axis in the southwest-northeast direction.

The lake is 539 meters above sea level. The maximum strength is more than 90 kilometers, the widest part is more than 40 kilometers, the circumference is more than 440 kilometers, the largest area is more than 2,300 square kilometers, the average water depth is 5.7 meters, the maximum water depth is about 8 meters, and the water storage capacity is13.85 billion cubic meters.

In the old days, Hulun Lake was connected with Hailar River, and the lake leaked into Heilongjiang. Now it has been cut off and become an inland lake. During the period of 1958 ~ 1962, the lake rose by 2.5 meters because the Mudnaya River connected with the lake was blocked.

In recent years, lake evaporation and lake recharge have achieved a new balance, and the water level tends to be stable. In winter, the freezing period is 170 ~ 180 days, and the maximum ice thickness is1.3m. This is a semi-saline lake, rich in fish. The aquatic plants around the lake are rich and beautiful, and they are part of the famous Hulunbeier grassland.

Hulun Lake is a eutrophic lake with more than 30 kinds of fish, mainly carp, crucian carp, pike and catfish. In addition, the lake is also rich in beautiful white shrimp.

Hulun Lake is the only osawa within thousands of miles in the north of China. Its waters are very wide, and both the Krulen River and the Urson River flow into it. Swamp wetlands are continuous, the grassland is vast, the prey is rich, and the living environment of birds is good. It is an important passage for bird migration in the inland of eastern China. In spring and autumn, there are many kinds of migratory birds coming from south to north.

According to statistics, there are birds 17 orders, 4 1 family and 24 1 species in Hulun Lake area, accounting for one fifth of the total number of birds in China. There are mainly swans, geese, ducks and herons, many of which are rare birds. It can be said that Hulun Lake area is one of the rare treasures of bird resources in Inner Mongolia and a huge bird museum.
