1. Taking the train is more cost-effective. I don’t recommend the specific train times. There are too many trains and almost every hour. However, the running time is about 4 hours, so you can arrange it according to your plan.

2. If you want to stay, you can book a hotel in advance. The closest hotels to the station are Donghao, Tangyin, Hongfu (North Gate), Postal Hotel, Jiuzhou, and Bohai Pearl (South Gate). The best choice is near the station. There is an express train at the north gate of the train station. It costs 8 yuan per hour to get to Jinshitan. The bus goes every 20 minutes. You can get off at Jinshitan and walk to Discovery Kingdom for 10 minutes or you can take the bus for 1 yuan. There is also free pick-up and delivery for Discovery Kingdom tickets.

3. If you go to Discovery Kingdom on the first day, you can go to Laohu Beach, Ocean Park, and Xinghai Park (free) on the second day. There are also ticket buses at the train station to pick up and drop off, but it is recommended to go to Taobao. Buying a ticket is nearly half the price. If you want to take the bus, take bus 2 to Hutan, and bus 531 to Xinghai Park and Ocean Park. They are all in front of the station. Just ask and you will know. My friend came here for 2 days, one day for Discovery Kingdom and one day for Tiger Beach. I walked to Zhanbeida Food Market and bought a bunch of grilled fish fillets, which were pretty good.
