How much does a ticket to the Forbidden City cost on China Tourism Day?
Tickets for the Forbidden City on China Tourism Day: 60 yuan in peak season and 40 yuan in low season. The Forbidden City is located in the center of Beijing. The layout is based on the principle of "Left Ancestor, Right Society, Facing, and Back Market" contained in "Zhou Li·Kaogong Ji". The building is built on the central axis of eight kilometers long from north to south of Beijing. The north and south are straight and symmetrical from left to right. Today, the Working People's Cultural Palace on the left front of the Forbidden City was the Ancestral Temple where emperors worshiped their ancestors during the Ming and Qing Dynasties; the Zhongshan Park on the right front was the Sheji Altar where emperors worshiped the Earth God and the Grain God; in the front was where courtiers worked; and in the back was the market where people traded.
The Forbidden City is surrounded by a palace wall that is 12 meters high and 3,400 meters long. It is in the form of a rectangular city. There is a 52-meter-wide moat surrounding the wall, forming a castle with tight barriers. The Forbidden City has four gates, the main gate is called Meridian Gate, the east gate is called Donghua Gate, the west gate is called Xihua Gate, and the north gate is called Shenwu Gate. Facing the north gate Shenwumen, there is a Jingshan built of earth and stone. In terms of the overall layout, Jingshan can be said to be the barrier to the Forbidden City complex.
The Forbidden City is about 960 meters long from north to south and 750 meters wide from east to west. It covers an area of ??more than 720,000 square meters and has more than 8,000 existing houses. It is surrounded by a 10-meter-high city wall and a 52-meter-wide moat outside the wall. There is a gate on each side, the Meridian Gate is in the south, the Shenwu Gate is in the north, the Donghua Gate is in the east, and the Xihua Gate is in the west. The Forbidden City is composed of two parts: the outer court and the inner court.
