How big is Shanghai?
The area of Shanghai is 634.5 square kilometers.
Shanghai is located between 12 52 ′ ~ 122 12 ′ east longitude and 3 4 ′ ~ 31 53 ′ north latitude. Its land area is about 3.5 times that of Xiamen, and it governs 16 districts. Shanghai is located on the west coast of the Pacific Ocean, the east edge of the Asian continent, the center of the north and south coasts of China, and the confluence of the Yangtze River and Huangpu River into the sea. Shanghai is bordered by the Yangtze River in the north, the East China Sea in the east, Hangzhou Bay in the south and Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces in the west.
Shanghai is a municipality directly under the central government of China, a national central city, an international economic, financial, shipping and scientific and technological innovation center of China, a famous historical and cultural city in China and a first-tier city in the world. Shanghai is a part of the alluvial plain in the Yangtze River Delta, with an average height of about 2.19 meters above sea level. In the north of Shanghai, where the Yangtze River enters the sea, there are three islands: Chongming Island, Changxing Island and hengsha island. Chongming Island covers an area of 1,41.21 square kilometers, Changxing Island covers an area of 88.54 square kilometers and hengsha island covers an area of 55.74 square kilometers.

1. Sheshan National Forest Park
Shanghai Sheshan National Forest Park was approved in June 1993. It is located in Songjiang, an ancient city in the western suburbs of Shanghai, covering an area of 41 hectares and 3 kilometers away from the city center. Twelve peaks in the park meander for 13 kilometers from southwest to northeast, making the Shanghai Plain in Ma Pingchuan present a beautiful and colorful forest landscape.
2. Dongtan Wetland Park
Dongtan Wetland Park is adjacent to Dongtan Bird Nature Reserve, and it is also the only wetland park adjacent to migratory bird reserve in China. The second phase of the completed wetland park is rich in vegetation, which naturally attracts many rare birds. At present, 112 species of wild birds have been found in the wetland park, including the national second-class protected animals, such as Jay Juan, white-breasted bitter bird, black water chicken and so on, and the number is also very large.
3. Lujiazui Central Green Space
Lujiazui Central Green Space is located in the core area of Lujiazui Financial and Trade Center in Pudong New Area, to the left of the Pudong exit of Yan 'an East Road Tunnel, which is the largest open lawn in Shanghai. The central green space covers an area of 1, square meters, with undulating terrain, mainly green and supplemented by waterscape. It is simple, natural, transparent and spectacular, forming a pleasant scene of modern financial city, and is known as the urban green lung.
