Established in 1979, Shanghai Tourism College is the first institution of higher learning in China to train middle and senior tourism management talents. In August, 2003, with the approval of Shanghai Municipal People's Government, Shanghai Tourism College was retained as an independent institution, and Shanghai Tourism College and School of Urban and Tourism of Shanghai Normal University merged to form the Tourism College of Shanghai Normal University, which implemented an operating system with one team and two brands. This major is a pilot major of teaching reform in higher vocational colleges of the Ministry of Education. This major aims to cultivate advanced applied professionals with all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique and aesthetics, with basic theoretical knowledge and skills of cooking and catering management, who are competent for the operation and management of cooking technology in hotel catering and catering industry.
