Introduction to Wang Guoqing

Wang Guoqing, Director of Tourism in Huashan District, Maanshan City. The perpetrator of the "Ma'anshan 6.11 Incident". On the evening of June 11, Wang, the director of the Huashan District Tourism Bureau of Ma'anshan City, had a verbal dispute with Hu, a pedestrian, and beat him. After being detained by the public security organs in accordance with the law, the Ma'anshan Huashan District Committee of the Communist Party of China held a meeting that night to make a decision. He was removed from the post of director of Wang District Tourism Bureau and submitted to the Standing Committee of the District People's Congress for a decision on removal in accordance with legal procedures. On the evening of June 11, 2010, a mass riot involving tens of thousands of people occurred near the RT-Mart store in Ma'anshan, Anhui Province. The incident was caused by an inconspicuous traffic incident when Wang Guoqing, the local tourism director of Huashan District, drove past the intersection near the RT-Mart store on Hubei East Road. However, the director's attitude was arrogant and he beat a middle school student, which aroused public outrage. He did not apologize afterwards and asked the police to come out for protection, which further angered the people and led to a mass incident. In the end, the authorities dispatched riot police and threw tear gas to calm the incident down late at night.
