Where is the best place to travel in South Korea?
As a student who has spent some time in Korea, I would like to recommend a few places that are more suitable for travel and vacation:
1. Bukchon Hanok Village. Bukchon Hanok Village is located between Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace and Jongmyo Shrine. It is a traditional Korean residential area with a history of 600 years in Seoul. This area has been composed of Wonseo-dong, Jeol-dong, Gye-dong, Gahoe-dong, and Insa-dong since ancient times. It is located to the north of Cheonggyecheon Stream and Jongno, so it is called "Bukchon". At that time, it was a high-end residential area where royal officials and nobles lived, so it was very famous. The residences inside are all blue-tiled houses from the Joseon Dynasty, and they have been preserved to this day as the structural form of the upper class. At first, there were only a few aristocratic houses with tall gates and more than 30 Korean houses. However, it retained its current appearance at the end of Japanese rule and after Korea was recovered on June 25. These traditional Korean houses clustered between the magnificent palace buildings, as well as countless alleys, have been preserved in their original appearance, completely showing the charming style of six hundred years ago.
2. Yongping Resort. Yongpyeong Resort is located on a plateau at an altitude of 700 meters in Daegwallyeong. It is the earliest modern ski resort in South Korea and a comprehensive ski resort integrating skiing, golf, accommodation and water park. Yongpyong Resort is the second world-class ski resort in Asia and has successfully hosted major international events such as the 1998 and 2000 World Cup Ski Competitions and the 1999 Winter Asian Games. After the ski season, golfing is available from April to November.
The 1998 World Cup Ski Competition and the 1999 Gangwon Winter Asian Games were held here. It has red, silver, and gold slopes approved by the International Ski Federation (FIS), as well as slopes suitable for beginners. There are yellow slides and pink slides, 18 slopes such as new red and green slides suitable for medium levels, 15 lift cable cars, and a 3.7-kilometer long 8-person closed cable car.
3. Xuanjing Mausoleum. Seonjeongneung is the collective name of Seonjeong and Jeongneung. Seonjeong is the mausoleum of the 9th King Seongjong of Joseon and his step-concubine Queen Jeonghyun, while Jeongneung is the tomb of King Jungjong, the 11th king of Joseon. Although it is located in the center of the city, it is relatively deserted and is a good place for a quiet walk.
Seongjong is the grandson of Sejo and the second son of Dezong. He was born in the 3rd year of Sejo (1457) and succeeded to the throne at the age of 13 (1469). During his 25 years on the throne, he treated the learned people People were rewarded and punished clearly, the institutional system was continuously improved, the country was well governed, and his achievements were outstanding. Unfortunately, he died young at the age of 38 (1494). His concubine, Queen Zhenxian, was born in Ningyuan, Yuguan. She was the daughter of Yin Hao, the king of Fuyuan. She entered the palace as a concubine in the 11th year of King Seongjong's reign (1480) and died in the 25th year of King Jungjong's reign (1530).
Zhongzong was Chengzong’s second son. He was born in the 19th year of Chengzong’s reign (1488). He succeeded to the throne in 1506, reigned for 39 years, and died at the age of 54. Different from Seonling, Jeongling is a single tomb with only one royal tomb in it.
Seonjeongneung Mausoleum is like a park, with shops and various facilities, where you can relax and take a rest.
Although South Korea is not a big country, there are still many interesting places. The ones I recommend are all places I have visited before. I hope you can make your trip worthwhile.
