Where is Mulan’s hometown?
(According to different opinions, to avoid revision, here are all listed)
First, Mulan’s hometown is in Yucheng, as evidenced by the Hua Mulan Temple. On the Beijing-Kowloon Railway, there is the Yucheng Mulan Station. Not far away is the Hua Mulan Temple, which is the site of Mulan's former residence in the Sui Dynasty. The temple was built in the Tang Dynasty and covers an area of ??72,000 square meters. From south to north, there are gates, main halls, dedication halls, back buildings and various courtyards, with more than 100 rooms. In the gate aisle, there is a statue of Hua Mulan's tall war horse; in the main hall, there is a statue of Hua Mulan in military uniform and the guards on both sides; in the back building, there is a statue of Hua Mulan as a girl and a family statue; inside and outside the ancestral hall, there are officials and celebrities from past dynasties. There are more than ten inscriptions including essays, poems, calligraphy and paintings praising Mulan. For example, in a poem by Du Mu in the Tang Dynasty: "I bent my bow to fight as a man, and I was with the thrush in my dream. I thought about returning the wine several times, and Buddha clouds were piled on top to wish the concubine Ming." Unfortunately, the original temple was destroyed in a war in 1943. It was rebuilt in recent years. There are ancestral monuments from the Qing Dynasty that are well preserved.
Second, Mulan’s family was in Bozhou, and the ruins still exist. "Bozhou Zhilie Women Zhi" records: Mulan, surnamed Wei, was from Dongwei Village in Qiaocheng in the Western Han Dynasty (today's Weiyuan Village in Bozhou). Weiyuan Village is an ordinary village in Huaibei. The approximately 5-meter-tall statue of Mulan on the expedition adds infinite brilliance to her hometown. Villagers pointed out that Mulan’s former residence is behind their village and the tomb still exists. The tomb is surrounded by green pines, a forest of green bamboos, and the fragrance of peony flowers in spring, making it a spectacular sight. "Guangxu Bozhou Chronicles" records: Mulan Temple is outside the pass, and it is said that Mulan's home is around the temple. Today the temple has been destroyed, but the ruins are still there.
Third, Mulan is from Huangpi, and her home is at the foot of Mulan Mountain. Mulan Mountain is located 30 kilometers north of Huangpi City. It is more than 600 meters high, with towering green peaks, beautiful scenery and many historical sites. Legend has it that there was a local Zhu family named Mulan, who disguised herself as a man and came here on behalf of her father, and was named General Mulan for her meritorious service. She was not given the imperial emolument, she was disarmed and returned to her fields, she resumed her red dress, and served her relatives until the end of her life. Mulan has been worshiped on the mountain in the past dynasties. Mulan Temple was built in the Tang Dynasty, Mulan Palace was built in the Ming Dynasty, and Mulan Hall was built later. Now Mulan Hall is on the cliff, with red pillars and green tiles, and the four characters "loyalty, filial piety and courage" are engraved on the forehead of the hall door. In the hall sits a gilded statue of Mulan, a man dressed as a woman, handsome and mighty. On the gables on both sides, there are colorful murals of Mulan's stories, such as "Mountain Climb to Seek Heirs", "Practice Martial Arts by the River", "Go to War on behalf of Father", "Return in Triumph", etc., which are lifelike.
Four. Mulan is buried in Yan'an, the Holy Land There are historical sites. Mulan lived in Huayuantou Village, Huashan Township, south of Yan'an City. Her surname was Hua, and she was from the Northern Wei Dynasty. She was buried on the mountain next to the village, and was called "Huajia Mausoleum". There were stone steps under the tomb, and there were stone steps on both sides. There are stone figures, stone horses, stone lions and stone sheep. In 1984, the Mulan Cemetery was restored in Yan'an Wanhua Mountain. The garden is elegant and spectacular with carved beams and paintings. There is a tomb built on the mountain and the stone tablet is engraved with " "Mulan Poems", "The Tomb of General Hua", as well as poems praising Mulan by famous poets such as Bai Juyi and Du Mu. The garden is planted with peonies that Mulan loves, and there are stone statues of Mulan in uniform, with a prancing horse and a sword, which vividly reproduce Mulan's past. Brave and heroic.
Historians have very few records about Mulan. The exact whereabouts of Mulan’s soul is as uncertain as the clouds, and there are many legends.
