The development process of film and television tourism
Film and television tourism is called film-induced tourism (or movie-induced tourism) abroad, that is, film-induced tourism, referred to as induced tourism. The germ of film and television tourism began with the completion of the first Disneyland in California in 1955. Film animator Walt Disney combined various technical means used in film production with rich imagination, copied the character scenes in the animation into various amusement projects, and used stage-like colors, plots, theme hints, etc. to create The magical and exciting atmosphere allows tourists to fully enter the role, creating a grand and realistic new entertainment form. At the same time, there are comprehensive tourist facilities around the amusement park, such as hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, etc. Disneyland was a huge success and was known as the happiest place on earth. Because Disneyland is partially integrated into film and television art, it is called the germ of film and television tourism. The real beginning of film and television tourism began in 1963 with the completion of the first Universal Studios theme park. At Universal Studios Hollywood, people can visit the production of movies, solve the mystery of stunt shots, and review the highlights of classic films. Because it makes extensive use of film and television art and uses it as an attraction, we think it is the beginning of film and television tourism being taken seriously. In the following decades, the construction of film and television theme parks around the world surged. Up to now, in addition to the 5 Disney parks and 11 Disney theme parks, the world's most famous film and television tourism products also have 5 Universal Studios theme parks.
The development of China's film and television tourism began in 1987 with the completion of the CCTV Wuxi Film and Television City. Wuxi Film and Television Base is the first film and television base in China. When CCTV renovated a sanatorium in Wuxi, Jiangsu, it also built a Journey to the West Art Palace to store the props, costumes, equipment, etc. used in the filming of the TV series "Journey to the West" for future use. use. The Art Palace opened to the public and became a major tourist hotspot in Wuxi. At that time, a ticket cost 1 yuan, and the daily income reached a maximum of 10,000 yuan. The entire investment was recovered in the second year. Soon, CCTV successively built Tang City and Three Kingdoms City for the filming of TV series such as "Tang Minghuang". Affected by the hit TV series, a large number of tourists have come to visit the film and television base. The scenes originally designed for film and television creation have become an emerging form of tourism, which not only promotes the development of the local economy, but also expands the popularity of Wuxi as a famous city and maintains it. The combination of film and television culture and Jiangnan customs has enabled film and television tourism to develop well. The huge success of Wuxi Film and Television City has led to the climax of the construction of film and television cities across the country. Zhongshan in Guangdong, Taihu in Wuxi, Zhenbeibao in Ningxia, and Hengdian in Zhejiang have established film and television cities one after another. Film and television cities of all sizes are rapidly blooming all over the country. According to statistics from the National Tourism Administration, as of 2005, there were more than 2,000 theme parks of various sizes across the country. With the great success of Wuxi Film and Television Base, the construction of film and television cities has set off an upsurge in various parts of our country.

At present, the two most representative film and television cities in China are CCTV Wuxi Film and Television Base and Hengdian Group Hengdian Film and Television City. Hengdian World Studios achieved a breakthrough of 11.17 million tourists in 2012. However, the entire film and television tourism industry is not very optimistic. In April and May 2012, major domestic media reported on the over-investment and duplication of construction of domestic film and television cities with the title "80% of Thousands of Film and Television Cities Are Losing". So far, more than 110 film and television cities have been established and approved, and more than 30 film and television cities are under construction and investment promotion. Smaller film and television shooting bases are spread across the country, with the number approaching a thousand. However, currently, with the exception of Hengdian World Studios, most other film and television cities are operating at a loss. According to survey data from the Film and Television Center of the Peking University Cultural Industry Research Institute, currently, 80% of domestic film and television bases are at a loss, 15% are struggling to survive, and only 5% are profitable.
