Exploring Chaozhou and traveling in South Australia
I have always wanted to go to Chaoshan. Later, the department happened to organize a trip, so I suggested to them to go to Chaoshan for two days on the weekend. Let's go as soon as we can, make a plan in advance, and start our trip to Chaoshan.
Early in the morning, we drove from Xiamen to Chaozhou and arrived in Chaozhou in about 2 and a half hours. After arriving in Chaozhou, we first dropped off our luggage at the pre-booked hotel, and then immediately went to the most famous hotpot restaurant in Chaozhou to eat hotpot.
When talking about Chaozhou, the first thing that comes to mind is beef hotpot. A Bin Beef's hotpot is quite famous in Chaozhou, and many tourists come here here.
Their hot pot soup base is made of white beef bone soup, with a small amount of corn and radish in the soup. Compared with Sichuan spicy hot pot, it lacks the temptation of red, orange, yellow and green, and the taste is also lighter.
When eating hot pot, you must eat beef. It is said that the beef here is shipped on the same day and is very fresh. Therefore, we basically ordered all parts of the cow, including tripe, beef tendon, dragonfly, breast, snowflake beef, beef louver...it was really dizzying to see all the variety.
After the bottom of the pot is boiled, put the beef in and rinse it for three seconds, and everyone can’t wait to pick it up and eat it. The beef was eaten by 6 of us in less than a minute. The beef here tastes tender and refreshing, with a fragrant aroma in the teeth, especially the hanging dragon. We finished one plate and ordered another. Shacha sauce is the best accompaniment to hot pot. Dip the freshly blanched beef into the sauce and the taste will be unforgettable!
In addition to eating beef, the beef kuey teow and spring rolls here are also very popular among us. Beef kuey teow is handmade and tastes more refreshing than ordinary noodles. The spring rolls are filled with mung beans, pork cubes, raw garlic, shiitake mushrooms, and dried shrimps. Golden in color, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with salty fillings, it tastes unique!
After finishing the beef hotpot, you will go out to Archway Street. Archway Street is one of the famous local attractions and an old street with a history of hundreds of years.
When visiting Archway Street, there are exquisite ancient archway buildings everywhere. Behind every archway is a glorious history. Some commend the top scholar in scientific examinations, some praise loyalty, filial piety, justice, and some sing praises of virtue. Through the archway, you can deeply feel the strong historical and cultural atmosphere of this city.
In addition to admiring the ancient architecture of the archway, you can also eat Chaozhou's most famous delicacies here, such as salt water cakes, glutinous rice with pig intestines, bamboo shoots cakes, dried tofu, oyster omelette, beef ball soup... …It’s simply a paradise for foodies!
After visiting Archway Street, we came to Kaiyuan Temple. Kaiyuan Temple was built in the Tang Dynasty and is known as "a blessed land for millions of people and a jungle for three thousand worlds". Therefore, all tourists who come to Chaozhou will specially go in to pray for peace.
Since Kaiyuan Temple is a pure Buddhist place, it is best not to wear shorts when entering. That day, a female colleague of mine was stopped by a female supervisor because she was wearing shorts. The female steward said: "Kaiyuan Temple does not allow anyone to wear shorts. This is disrespectful to the Buddha." My colleague was very embarrassed at the time and quickly explained to her that she did not understand this rule. The female steward saw that we were from out of town and didn't understand the rules here, so she had no choice but to let my colleague in. She said: "Since you don't know this taboo, I believe the Buddha will forgive you. Remember not to wear shorts when you come in next time. You can come in today, but just pay homage to the Buddha." After listening to her admonishment, we Just sneak away to a place where she can't see him.
After coming out of Kaiyuan Temple, we took a small green car and headed to Chaozhou West Lake. The green car costs 10 yuan each, which is a bit expensive, but it is very convenient for tourists. The driver of the little green car was very enthusiastic and kept introducing us to the scenic spots in Chaozhou during the trip. When we passed the Guangji Bridge, they even stopped and let us come down to take pictures.
Guangji Bridge, also known as Xiangzi Bridge, lies across the Han River. There is a folk saying: "If you don't have the tide in Guangzhou, your trip is in vain; if you don't have the bridge in the tide, your trip is in vain." Guangji Bridge, Zhaozhou Bridge, Luoyang Bridge, and Marco Polo Bridge are also known as the "Four Ancient Bridges in China" . Therefore, when you come to Chaozhou, you must visit Guangji Bridge to make your trip worthwhile.
Opposite Guangji Bridge is the Guangji City Gate Tower. Due to limited time, we didn't go in to visit, so we took photos directly at the door.
After taking photos at Guangji City Gate Tower, the master of the little green car continued to take us to our destination---Chaozhou West Lake. Chaozhou West Lake is very small, almost like an ordinary park. So we sat by the lake and rested for a while before leaving.
Walking out of the West Lake, we went directly to the Hanwengong Temple. Han Wengong, also known as Han Yu, was demoted to Chaozhou when he was an official in his early years. Later, he did many good things for the local people in Chaozhou. After his death, the local people built it specially to commemorate him.
When I talk about Han Yu, the first thing I think of is that he is the head of the Eight Great Masters of the Tang and Song Dynasties. Secondly, I think of his book "Shi Shuo". When I was a student, my teacher often asked us to recite his articles. There is a sentence in it, "A teacher is the one who teaches, teaches and solves doubts." I still remember it by heart.
Originally we wanted to go in and visit with reverence, but unfortunately it was already 5 o'clock when we got here. The administrator refused to let us in, saying that the ticket sales had ended at 4:30. The administrator is very principled and no matter how much we try to intercede with him, it is useless. In the end, my colleague and I had no choice but to take a group photo at the door and leave with a little regret.
Before leaving the next morning, I told my colleagues that I must make up for the scenic spot that I didn’t have time to visit yesterday - the Taifo Hall. Originally, they were not interested in this kind of temple, but after my strong request, they had no choice but to comply with my wishes.
Taifo Hall is located on the east side of Hanjiang Bridge, opposite Huiru Park. It was built with funds donated by Xie Huiru, an overseas Chinese in Thailand, and is a new flower of Sino-Thailand friendship.
This building, which imitates the Guyun Temple in Thailand, is magnificent and magnificent, and it showcases the architectural art of Thailand. For the local Chaozhou people, they can appreciate the exotic style without leaving home.
After visiting the Taifo Hall, my colleagues were also deeply attracted by the magnificence of the Taifo Hall.
Finally, go straight to Shantou and head to Nan'ao Island. On the way, we passed the magnificent Nan'ao Bridge, which is 70 meters high. Nan'ao Bridge, with a total length of 11.08 kilometers, connects Chenghai District of Shantou City and Nan'ao County. It is the longest cross-sea bridge in Guangdong Province. We were all very excited when we saw the Nan'ao Bridge. Because crossing the bridge means we can go directly to the island.
It was already past 11 o'clock when we arrived at Nan'ao Island, so we found a seafood restaurant on the island for lunch. After lunch, we continued driving to Qing'ao Bay Beach.
Qing'ao Bay, located on the east side of Nan'ao Island, is a famous tourist resort on Nan'ao Island.
As soon as we arrived at Qing'ao Bay, all of us were stunned by the beautiful scenery in front of us! The blue sky and white clouds, the sunshine on the beach, the clear blue water, and the fine sand are worthy of being praised by tourists at home and abroad as: "Oriental Hawaii".
The bay is like a crescent moon, and the sea is like a flat lake. Walking on the golden soft beach, It feels particularly comfortable to let the naughty sea breeze blow wildly.
In addition to its clear blue color, Qing'ao Bay also has a romantic story behind it. In the early days, the Chinese "flying man" Su Bingtian was here. Kneeling in the water to propose to his girlfriend (this picture is so beautiful)
There are tents everywhere on the beach, and tea is provided at the tents, so we found a tent on the beach and sat down to drink. Tea. Drinking tea facing the sea for the first time, it feels very comfortable!
The time of traveling always flies by, and before we know it, it is time for us to return to Xiamen. I really want time to stop. At that moment, I could face the blue sky and blue sea, think what I wanted or just be in a daze quietly.
