The Regional Culture of Youlan Town

According to historical records, Youlan began in the Tang Dynasty and is located in a tributary of Qinglan Lake. Qinglan Lake was once a gathering place for business travel and became a market town because of its convenient transportation and superior geographical location. During the reign of Xianheng (670-673), the fourth son of Wei, a famous minister in the Tang Dynasty, made a secretariat of Hongzhou. Because of missing his father Wei Zhi, he was buried in Xian Mountain in Chang 'an, so he changed the Phoenix Mountain in the southeast of Youlan Town to Xian Mountain and built the East Zen Ancient Temple. Emperor Qing Qianlong passed through Jiangxi traveling incognito for the first time, visited his cousin Dagan in Dongchan Ancient Temple, and inscribed "Fairy Mountain Zen Forest" on the temple plaque. Dongchan ancient temple is favored by historical and humanistic scholars, thus making Youlan famous all over the world.
