Nanjing Art College, referred to as "Nanyi" for short, is located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. It is a university established by the Chinese people, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the People's Government of Jiangsu Province. It is the only comprehensive art college in Jiangsu Province, the earliest art institution in China and the first of the six art colleges in China. Nanyi gave birth to the earliest art academic system in China, and created the earliest university disciplines such as art, music, dance, theory and drama in China, which is the earliest in modern times.

Nanjing Art College was established in 1952 after the adjustment of colleges and universities in China. According to the decision of the Central Ministry of Culture, East China Art College was formed by merging Shanghai Fine Arts College, Suzhou Fine Arts College and Shandong University Art Department.

It was named Nanjing Art College on June 1, 1959. Nanjing Art College was the earliest art college founded in China, and its predecessor can be traced back to Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts founded by Mr. Liu Haisu in 1912.
