Besides West Lake, what other places are worth visiting in Hangzhou?
From entering college in September 2010 to leaving in March 2019, I lived in Hangzhou for 8 and a half years. I have a lot to say about Hangzhou’s attractions.
Besides West Lake, what other places are worth visiting in Hangzhou?
01
First of all, I want to talk about West Lake.
People traveling outside may think that West Lake is just a lake. West Lake is divided into Inner West Lake and Outer West Lake. Most people go to Outer West Lake, which is very crowded. It is recommended that you go to Inner West Lake. There are famous Ten Scenic Spots of West Lake and New Ten Scenic Spots of West Lake around the West Lake, namely the Broken Bridge, Leifeng Pagoda, Three Pools Reflecting the Moon and other scenic spots that we often hear about.
Nanshan Road and Beishan Street are the places with the most tourists. If you bypass these two roads, go to Yanggongdi and ride a bicycle along Yanggongdi. There are few people, beautiful scenery and special air. good. You can also visit Longjing, Hupao Spring, Silk Museum and other scenic spots along the route to feel the unique atmosphere of Jiangnan.
Personally, when going to West Lake, you must find a place with few people. After all, it is also very beautiful to take pictures.
02
Besides West Lake, where else?
I won’t talk about the scenery around West Lake.
You can take a stroll around the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. In Gongshu District, you can take a boat from Wulin Square (the most central place in Hangzhou) to the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. It costs 2 yuan and you can use the bus. You can also insert coins into the card, and you can get there in about 20 minutes. There are also many boats, departing every 5-10 minutes, and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.
Tangqi Ancient Town. We all know Xitang, Wuzhen and other ancient towns. Tangqi is also a small ancient town. It is said to be the source of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in Hangzhou. It is relatively small and there are also snacks. It would be best if you can go during the season when loquats are ripe. Tangqi The loquat is extremely delicious.
Binjiang Cherry Blossom Runway. There is a plastic track in Binjiang with cherry blossoms. It is very beautiful to go during the cherry blossom season. But outside of the cherry blossom season, you can feel the enthusiasm and passion of those who love running. Every night there are many men, women and children running.
Xiaoshan Xianghu. Xiang Lake is far less famous than West Lake, but Xiang Lake is a larger lake than West Lake. The surrounding environment is very good, there are few people, and it is beautiful. If you go to Xianghu, you can also go to Xiaoshan Amusement Park. Of course, it is similar to other city amusement parks, nothing special.
Binjiang Songcheng. As the capital of the Southern Song Dynasty, the bustling scenes of Lin'an in the old days are all present in Songcheng. I have not gone inside to see it. The ticket used to be 300. I don't know how the ticket price is now. Friends who have been there said it is okay.
If you like mountain climbing, Hangzhou welcomes you. For long distances, you can climb from Xiaohe Mountain to Shili Langjuan and then to West Lake North Peak. For short distances, you can also go from Zhejiang University Yuquan Campus to North Peak. After all, West Lake is surrounded by mountains on three sides and a city on one side. There are really many mountains to climb. If it is summer, remember to prevent mosquitoes.
If you believe in Buddhism, you can also go to Lingyin Temple, Shangtianzhu, Xiatianzhu and other temples to worship.
If you want to see how Hangzhou New Town is developing, you can go near Qianjiang New Town, which is basically the most prosperous place in New Hangzhou.
If you want to go to the wholesale market, Sijiqing, Jiubao and other places are inseparable.
Of course, there are many places in Hangzhou that are worth visiting, such as Xixi Wetland, Daqing Valley, Zhejiang University, Alibaba, NetEase, etc. Hangzhou is a place you never want to leave. Find a quiet place, drink Longjing tea, and sit there all afternoon.
At the entrance of the scenic spot (opposite the entrance is the Qiantang River):
Going further in, you will see small bridges and flowing water, just like a fairyland
The scenic spot is along this creek Winding up (the scenic spot is completely free)
The scenic spot is lush and green everywhere, and the hillsides in the distance are full of tea trees (it is not far from the famous Longjing Village)
There are tall metasequoias all along the road. I happened to take a wedding photo. I wish to be a winged bird in the sky and a twig on the ground. Haha
A small island in the middle of a lake (pool) is full of colorful and delicate flowers. , the spring leaves of the big tree in the distance are red, and they look exactly like the red leaves of autumn.
There is a temple halfway up the mountain, completely covered with firewood. If I hadn’t told you, would you have known that it was taken in April?
We are almost reaching the top of the mountain. Many houses are used as teahouses, just like our farmhouses in the north.
Finally, there is a candid wedding photo. This is a condensed essence of the scenic spot. Take a photo. So many wedding photos!
The Nine Streams Smoke Tree is one of the New Ten Scenic Spots of West Lake, commonly known as the "Nine Streams and Eighteen Streams". It is located under Jiguan Ridge in the mountains to the west of West Lake. It is connected to Longjing in the north and Qiantang River in the south. It originates from the foot of Yangmeiling in Wengjiashan, and flows into Qingwan, Hongfa, Tangjia, Xiaokang, Foshi, Baizhang, Yunqi, Qingtou and Fangjia Jiuxi streams, twists and turns, and flows into Qianjiang River. Eighteen streams refer to the number of small streams and gurgling springs. Jiuxi and Shibajian meet in front of the Xizhongxi Restaurant at the foot of Bajue Mountain. Along the way there are many mountains, scattered tea gardens, twists and turns, flowing water and chirping mountain birds. On a sunny day, the scenery is delicious, but on a cloudy day, there are misty clouds.
Traffic information: Jiuxi Yanshu is about 6 or 7 kilometers away from the urban area. There are many buses going west along the Qiantang River, which basically do not stop in the middle, so it is recommended that tourists take the bus directly. Need to take a taxi.
Take bus No. 27 and get off at the terminal. From north to south, go through Jiuxi Yanshu Park to "Jiuxi" Station or Manlong Guiyu for a walking tour. The total length is 6 kilometers. The walking tour requires 2 hours; in addition, you can also take 2, K4, 308, 504, You 5 and Holiday 5 from south to north to the "Jiuxi" station on the Qiantang River, and go to Longjing or Manlong Guiyu via Jiuxi Yanshu Park Walking tour in the direction; or from northeast to southwest, from Manlong Guiyu via Yangmeiling or from the zoo via Hupao Back Mountain to Jiuxi Yanshu Park.
I came to Hangzhou after graduating in 2015. From the bottom of my heart, I still like this city very much.
In addition to West Lake, Hangzhou still has many places worth visiting. Let me first talk about where I have been.
Xiang Lake, located in Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou City, is known as the sister lake of West Lake. However, it is not as famous as West Lake. People who know Xiang Lake are basically people from Hangzhou and surrounding areas. But the lower popularity also makes Xianghu become quieter and more "Xiaojiabiyu". Moreover, in addition to its own lake scenery, Xianghu Lake is also adjacent to Hangzhou Polar Ocean Park, Hangzhou Paradise, Rotten Apple Paradise and other entertainment venues. The transportation is also very convenient, and it is the terminus of Metro Line 1.
2. Yunqi Bamboo Trail
The mountain of Yunqi Bamboo Trail is not very high, but the bamboo forest at the entrance will really leave a deep impression on people. Each moso bamboo shoots straight into the sky, and the air in the bamboo forest is intoxicating and refreshing. It takes more than three hours to go up and down the mountain. On the way, you will see many century-old trees marked with their age, especially the liquidambar tree that is more than a thousand years old. There is also Yunqi Temple on the mountain, which you can visit to refresh your mind.
In fact, Jiuxi Eighteen Streams, Shili Langjuan and Yunqi Bamboo Trail are next to each other. These places are in the mountains to the west of West Lake. People with good physical strength can visit them continuously. Surrounded by low mountains and densely covered with tea gardens, there are authentic West Lake Longjing teas. There are also many farmhouses in Longjing Village, which are more convenient for eating and drinking. However, you still have to be cautious when selling tea, because the price difference of tea is still quite large, so as to avoid being cheated.
Both of these are islands distributed on the Fuchun River. Xingsha Island is closer to Hangzhou, while Tongzhou Island is farther away. Xingsha Island Park originally had many recreational facilities, but now they are basically abandoned. However, you can still experience the beach, thousand-acre lotus pond and various picking gardens. The resources are very rich. You need a ferry to get to the island! Tongzhou Island is smaller and quieter. There is a kayaking club above where you can experience the fun of kayaking.
5. Liangzhu National Heritage Park
On July 6, 2019, the ruins of Liangzhu Ancient City in China were approved to be included in the World Heritage List at the World Heritage Conference held in Baku, Azerbaijan. This will be another cultural business card of Hangzhou and will attract more people to Hangzhou. However, in order to better protect this cultural site, you now need to make a reservation on the platform in advance before you can pick up tickets on site and enter. (I went during the National Day holiday. Because I didn’t have a reservation, I couldn’t go in, so I could only wander around the perimeter. However, after seeing the surrounding layout and the short explanation video, it was very shocking. 5,000 years ago, The culture of this place has become so developed and mature)
The city of Hangzhou is still quite touristy. West Lake is just the representative business card of tourism. There are many other places to visit. We look forward to your visit. .

Hello, everyone, I am Douzi
About I went to Hangzhou in February and stayed for eight or nine days. Because my wife went to Hangzhou to study for a few days, she took me with her to have fun and take a look.
When I go to Hangzhou, of course I go to West Lake. After all, West Lake is so famous. I originally thought that West Lake is just a lake. After going there, I discovered that West Lake has many scenic spots. It is very big and a day is very long. It was difficult to see them all, so it took me two days to go to West Lake.
However, after having been to Hangzhou once, I thought it was very nice. If I have the chance, I would go there again to see the places I haven’t visited yet.
Let’s talk about the places we have been. In addition to the West Lake, we also went to the Botanical Garden, Hupao Park, Zoo, Hangzhou Nature Museum, Tangqi Ancient Town, Hangbang Cuisine Museum, Baguatian Ruins, and Taipingfang. Lane et al.
Let’s talk about the places we have visited one by one.
After arriving on the first day, I went to visit the famous street nearby, Taipingfang Lane. After walking in, I saw various century-old shops inside. In addition, there were also various food items sold. , products for use, fun, and some selling century-old skin care products.
There is also a food court. Personally, I think the food court is just for walking around, shopping, and looking. If there is something you really like, buy some because I have been to some places and I feel that there are delicious food from all over the country. The streets are pretty much the same, nothing particularly new.
And in food streets, food is generally expensive.
On the way to the snack street, there was a small shop converted from a residential building that sold scallion buns. I bought one for five yuan and it tasted really good.
But within 200 meters, we arrived at the food street, where the green onion buns and stew were sold for ten yuan each.
I haven’t been to many places, but the best food street in my opinion is the Zhongshan Road Food Street in Nanning. The prices are reasonable and the varieties are diverse.
Let’s talk about Hangzhou. It’s good to see some century-old shops and feel the cultural atmosphere there.
Then the second stop was the Botanical Garden.
Because I am a native of the north, in the winter, the flowers, plants and trees all wither, leaving only a bare patch, so in the cold weather It’s really a surprise to see so much green during the season.
And when walking inside, there is a large plum forest with many plum blossoms, which are really beautiful. The red plum blossoms become the most dazzling color.
It was raining lightly that day, and others were walking in the snow to look for plum blossoms. I guess it is more appropriate to call it walking in the rain to look for plum blossoms.
However, plum blossoms in the light rain are as beautiful as looking at Jiangnan ink paintings.
I also saw the scenery of small bridges and flowing water, which are impossible to see in the northern winter. The river water in the northern winter is basically in a state of freezing.
I forgot the ticket for the Botanical Garden. It might be between 10 and 20 yuan. Anyway, it is very cheap. I really recommend you to go and take a look. Don’t look at such cheap tickets, but you can browse and see inside. There are many places to visit.
It was raining lightly when I went there. My wife and I held umbrellas and walked slowly on the forest path, chatting and talking slowly. Walking and looking at the beautiful scenery around you, you feel like you have stepped into the ink painting of Jiangnan.
Anyway, I went to the Botanical Garden and it brought me a lot of surprises.
When looking for guides online, someone said that the zoo is also worth a visit and the tickets are very cheap. I can’t remember the details. It was probably between 10 and 20. Compared with zoos in other places, Said, this ticket price is really worth it.
But it rained almost every day when I went there, so it was raining when I went to the zoo, and some animals did not come out, such as the giraffes.
But when I saw the panda, it looked so cute.
In short, it is a place worth seeing. If you want to see giant pandas, you have to miss the noon time, because the giant pandas have to rest at noon, and you can only see them motionless and sleeping. .
The first time I went there was in the afternoon. The giant pandas were all active, gnawing bamboo and playing by themselves, so it was very interesting to watch.
The second time I went to see the giant pandas, it was noon. It turned out that not only the giant pandas were taking a nap, but also small raccoons and the like.
Let’s talk about the Museum of Natural History
If you have not been to natural museums in other cities, it is still worth a visit. You only need to bring your ID card and no tickets are required. , the inside is also very interesting,
It allows you to learn some knowledge about nature, and you can also see some animal specimens. In it, you can see specimens of Arctic foxes. The white and furry little things are particularly cute. They are probably The cutest "animal" I have ever seen.
However, if you have been to the Natural History Museum in other cities, it is not recommended to go again, because I have been to the Natural History Museum in the city where I live, and then to the Natural History Museum in Hangzhou. Natural history museums in each city are similar.
Tangqi Ancient Town
Personally, I think it’s not bad. There are many shops selling special food. You can try it. The walls of the houses in the ancient town are white. This color is It’s unique to the south and rarely seen in the north, so I find it very interesting.
Oh, I forgot to mention that there is no entrance fee to Tangqi Ancient Town, so it’s not bad to just walk around.
I also went to Hupao Park
I forgot the ticket for Hupao Park. It was probably only a dozen yuan. Anyway, they are very cheap.
This is also a highly recommended place to visit. Lingyin Temple is where Jigong became a monk, and Hupao Park is where Jigong was buried after his death
There is Hupao inside Spring, Master Hongyi's stupa, etc. The place inside is also very large, and it's definitely worth the ticket price! Absolutely worth it!
The view is really great.
I remember that there is a big tree inside that is 800 years old or 600 years old. Standing under the tree, I thought, this tree has witnessed the similarity of flowers year after year, and has witnessed the changes of the times. When you touch it, you feel like you are touching traces of history
Let’s talk about the Hangbang Cuisine Museum.
Many museums are about culture, history, nature, etc. This is the one I have been to The first museum focusing on food.
Be sure to fill your stomach before going to the museum, otherwise you will drool when you see the various specimens of dishes inside.
There are not only models of dishes, but also Introduction, as well as a simple production introduction, you can also see the food culture and food history of Hangzhou Grand Canal.
For those who like food, it is well worth a visit.
I also went to Wushan Grand View. I’m not sure whether it’s called this place, but I saw these big characters written on the wall.
I went there that night when I arrived in Hangzhou, because that day happened to be the Lantern Festival, and I saw online that there was a lantern festival on that mountain, so I went there because of it. When I rushed there in the evening, it was quite late, and I discovered it when I went there. The lantern festival is over...
There is also the Bagua field ruins.
It is a pity that there is no way to look down from a high place, otherwise the distribution of the entire field would be based on a Tai Chi Bagua pattern. of.
When I walked to the center of the Bagua, two black and white yin and yang fish appeared. Standing there, I felt as if I had become a chess piece between heaven and earth. Thinking of all living beings, who is not a chess piece between heaven and earth? ?
This paragraph is what I felt when I was standing there. I also wrote it down with a note on my mobile phone, and I am writing it here now.
******
Because it was raining lightly every day when I went there, so it was not very convenient to go out.
It is recommended to catch up During the rainy season, buy portable zippered shoe covers online in advance. It’s best to prepare an extra pair in case they break and have a spare. When buying, buy one that is 2 or 3 sizes larger than your shoe size. Ten million Don’t buy one that is the same size as your shoe size to avoid being stretched out.
You can also buy them on the road, but they are more expensive.
When I went there, I took a break when I was tired from walking, so there weren’t many places to go.
Although it rained lightly almost every day, while boating on the West Lake, I did not see the clear and beautiful scenery of the West Lake, but I also saw a beautiful ink painting of Jiangnan.
I didn’t go there in time to see the wind lotuses in Quyuan. The lotus flowers were in bloom. I only saw a pond full of residual lotuses, but there was a different kind of beauty.
The weather was bad when I went there, which affected my travel, but I was lucky enough to see the misty and rainy scenery of Jiangnan, so the trip was worthwhile.
There are many places I want to go to. For example, I also want to go to Yunqi Bamboo Trail. I have always liked bamboo. However, it is rare in the north. When I see it, there are only a few sparse ones. I have not seen a large bamboo forest yet. However, the bamboo forest at Yunqi Bamboo Trail must be beautiful!
I remembered that when I went to the Botanical Garden, there was a bamboo forest outside. It was not too big, but it was still a bamboo forest.
Oh, by the way, when you take a taxi in Hangzhou, the local driver will definitely tell you how good the silk is in Hangzhou, and then tell you to fill up the car with gas and pull you to a shop selling silk. It's a routine. If you buy silk, the driver will get a commission. As for whether the silk is good or not, we can't tell. In short, I was lost at the time. The money I spent on silk supplies and pillows can be used to visit Hangzhou twice.
The specific routines can be found online, so I won’t go into details here. If you want to buy them, go to a regular store.
I went to Hangzhou once. Generally speaking, except for the taxi routine, the rest of the experience was good. Except for the taxi routine, but based on my feeling, the silk products are still very good. I will try it in the future. Go to a regular silk supply store to buy it.
There are also free attractions and cheap attractions in Hangzhou, which are both good. Some are even better than the expensive attractions, and they are well worth a visit.
Hangzhou is an elegant city, which can be reflected in the names of scenic spots, such as Fenghe in Quyuan, Singing Orioles in the Willow Waves, Broken Bridge with Remaining Snow, etc.
It is necessary to travel to Hangzhou Skillful. West Lake is crowded with people on weekends and holidays, which greatly reduces the experience. Many friends will say after visiting the West Lake: It’s just like this, I will never come again!
In fact, West Lake has different beauty due to different weather in different seasons. Sunny West Lake, rainy West Lake, snowy West Lake, spring, summer, autumn and winter West Lake...the scenery is all different. For example, in the West Lake on rainy and snowy days, there will be much fewer tourists. If you come during the working day, then the West Lake will be your world. I will introduce this in detail another day.
If you are like me, working from 9 to 6 and only have weekends and holidays, West Lake is not your only choice. There are many fun and photo-worthy attractions in Hangzhou. I recommend a few in my photo album. The treasure place:
Even if you haven’t seen the movie, you will definitely feel that this is a place full of “Jianghu flavor”. Walk through the long and deep stone walkway, with towering green bamboos and gurgling streams on both sides. Birds chirping, cicadas chirping... all that's missing is a young man wearing Hanfu.
The summer in Hangzhou is very hot, but here there are green bamboos that block out the sky and the tinkling springs. There are few tourists, and it is very cool and quiet.
The Yunqi Bamboo Trail is very small and can be completed in one hour. Tickets are only 8 yuan.
The smoke tree refers to a small waterfall pouring down from a high place in the depths of Jiuxi River, like dew and smoke.
It is called Hangzhou Little Jiuzhaigou because there is a small pond near Yanshu that looks like Jiuzhaigou Valley. Yes, it is very small.
However, it is not just because of this that it is known as the most suitable hiking route in Hangzhou. There are countless streams in Jiuxi, winding and twisting all the way from north to south, and finally merge into the Qiantang River, ding-ding-dong-dong all the way. Therefore, it is also called Jiuxi Eighteen Streams.
Streams, tea gardens, and green mountains are elements that can be seen everywhere on this route.
The water bus from Wulinmen Pier can be reached in half an hour, and the fare is 3 yuan. What I want to recommend is not this bridge, but the Qiaoxi Historical and Cultural District. Although this street is small, it has a lot of content. It contains a Fang Huichun Hall, three museums, and a bookstore owned by Uncle San of the Southern School.
This is probably the neighborhood with the richest intangible cultural heritage in Hangzhou: Chinese Knife and Scissors Museum, Chinese Umbrella Museum, Chinese Fan Museum, Arts and Crafts Museum, and Handicraft Living Museum.
You can also walk through the streets and alleys and look into the courtyard. The Jiangnan alleys from the 1970s and 1980s are preserved here. I wonder if there is a lilac-like girl on the corner...
When you are tired from walking, there are many feel-good cafes or bookstores along the river. Sit by the river, watch the boats passing by, and recall the Gongchen Bridge in the past. Businessmen gathered.
With the successful application of the Liangzhu Site as a World Heritage Site, the Cultural Village has been particularly lively recently.
Liangzhu Cultural Village is a "pastoral style" community built by Vanke. In my eyes, it is the most artistic and livable community in Hangzhou. It is fitting that the library of the talented scholar Gao Xiaosong is located here, making it the most literary and artistic library in Hangzhou.
The building of the library is the Liangzhu Art and Culture Center designed by the architect Tadao Ando. It is surrounded by a cherry blossom lawn outside the library. In the Xiaoshu Library in spring, you can look up and see the brilliant cherry blossoms outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, reflected in the water under the eaves. Whether you are reading or in a daze, it is very emotional.
Baita Park is located on the bank of Qiantang River, not far from Jiuxi. It is the departure station for the first green train in Hangzhou. The end point is Gongchen Station next to the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.
There is still a green leather train here, which you can experience for 20 yuan. In spring, cherry blossoms and rapeseed flowers bloom on both sides of the railway track, lying on the car window, within reach.
If you like Hangzhou in spring, even on holidays, there are places that are not crowded and are amazing, and this is it.
This is not the tea garden of the Tea Expo. Of course, the tea garden is also a highlight. But today’s highlight is the century-old cherry blossoms hidden in the Tea Expo.
Why are there so few people? Because it's so hidden!
Have you ever thought that when I was taking pictures here without restraint, the West Lake was already overcrowded, the daily reception volume of Prince Bay has reached 90,000, and the traffic on Shuguang Road and Nanshan Road were lined up.
As for me, at 7 o'clock in the morning, I have the whole hilltop to myself. The ancient cherry blossoms in Tea Expo have already grown in groups, and the branches and leaves are intertwined. There are also birds playing and playing on the branches, and the cherry blossoms are raining gracefully. Dance, the sky is full of petals, on the branches of trees, in the grass, on my head, on my sleeves. .
In addition to West Lake, what other places in Hangzhou are worth visiting?
This is like a "If you come to Hangzhou, I will not take you to the West Lake series." It is true that the West Lake in Hangzhou is an iconic attraction and has a good reputation, but besides the West Lake, there are many other "natures" in Hangzhou. Listen to Xiao Qi Ye slowly talk about the beauty of the niche that people in the boudoir do not know, and it is hard to give up on natural beauty.
To go to Xiaohezhi Street, you can take Hangzhou's water bus and go all the way along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal to Gongchen Bridge. It takes about 1.5 hours to visit Gongchen Bridge and Qiaoxi Historical and Cultural District. Gongchen There are many free museums on the bridge, such as Umbrella
