First, the basic information of Qingdao:

? Qingdao, a prefecture-level city in Shandong Province, is a city under separate state planning and a sub-provincial city, referred to as Qingdao for short, formerly known as Jiaoao, and also known as Qindao and Island City. Qingdao is an important coastal central city, an open coastal city, a new first-tier city, an economic center city, a national historical and cultural city, an international port city, a coastal holiday and tourist city, a happy and livable city, and is known as "Oriental Switzerland".

? Qingdao is named after the ancient fishing village Qingdao. Qingdao's proper name "Qingdao" originally refers to a small island in Qianhai Bay in the urban area. It was named "Qingdao" because of its tree-lined and lush all year round, and was first recorded in Wang Shixing's "Guang Zhi Yi" in the Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty. In the seventh year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1579), Xu Ding, the magistrate of Jimo County, presided over the revision of "Discussion on Local Matters and Coastal Defence", and the name of Qingdao was described as: "The southeast coast of this county, that is, the eastern boundary of China, has no Tianjin, but the island Luoshi is in the meantime. The people who can live on the island are called Qing, Fu and Guan ... "The" Qing "here refers to Qingdao. The bay where Qingdao is located is named Qingdao Bay because of the island, and a small river that flows into the sea is also called Qingdao River. Qingdao Estuary was built in Wanli period of Ming Dynasty, which was called Qingdao Estuary. The two villages on both sides of the river are named Shangqingdao Village and Xiaqingdao Village respectively. A mountain at the source of the river was also named Qingdao Mountain in 1923.

Qingdao used to be called Jiaoao. In April 1929, Nanjing National Government took over the commercial port of Jiaoao, and set up Qingdao Special City in July of the same year. In 193, it was renamed Qingdao.
