Overview of Baya Island

Pulau Payar is an island in the Straits of Malacca in the west of Chittagong, Malaysia, 24 kilometers away from the estuary of Chittagong and 20 kilometers southeast of Lingjiawei Island. Located at 6 3' 51"n100 2' 26" east longitude, it consists of Palau Paillard Island and Palau Segantang. Paya Island is covered with dense forests and surrounded by white sand beaches. It is one of the most relaxed and beautiful islands in Malaysia, covering an area of 0.25 square kilometers. 1985 has been listed as a marine reserve by the Malaysian government. There is a Paya Island Marine Park on the island for tourists to dive and enjoy all kinds of tropical fish and beautiful corals in the sea. The nearby sea is 30-32 meters deep and the seabed is muddy. The surrounding sea area is an important fishing ground in Malaysia, rich in mackerel. Clams are cultivated on muddy shores rich in crabs.
