The Longmen Grottoes were dug in the reign of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty, and after more than 400 years of large-scale construction in the Eastern Wei Dynasty, the Western Wei Dynasty, the Northern Qi Dynasty, the Sui Dynasty, the Tang Dynasty, the Five Dynasties and the Song Dynasty, the length from north to south was 1 km. Today, there are 2,345 grottoes, more than 654.38 million statues and more than 2,800 inscriptions.

Introduction of scenic spots

1, Yuwangchi

When you enter the Longmen Grottoes, the first thing you see is the Fish King Pool, which is very small and there are many koi fish playing in it. There are three big characters "Yuwangchi" written on the pool, which is said to be built in memory of Dayu.

2. Xiangshan Temple

Xiangshan Temple is located on the mountainside of Longmen Dongshan Mountain, and its architecture is simple and vigorous, hidden among pines and cypresses. The road to Xiangshan Temple is very steep and the steps are very high. In addition, there are villas of Chiang Kai-shek and Song Meiling on the top of Xiangshan Temple, which are covered with some vegetation.

Baiyuan Garden, located on the Pipa Peak of Dongshan Mountain in Longmen Grottoes Scenic Area, is the graveyard of Bai Juyi, a famous poet in Tang Dynasty. There are more than 10 small scenic spots in the park, such as listening art pavilion, amusement park, poetry gallery, tomb area, Japanese calligraphy gallery, Taoist bookstore and so on.
