According to Baidu map query, Huairou District is located in the northeast of Beijing. The area borders Miyun District in the northeast, Shunyi District in the south, Changping District and Yanqing District in the west, and Fengning, Luanping and Chicheng County in Hebei Province in the north. Huairou District is about 5 kilometers away from the center of Beijing and 32 kilometers away from the Capital International Airport. Huairou District comes from "Huairou Hundred Gods" in The Book of Songs, Zhou Song Shi Mai, which means to attract appeasement. Huairou County was established in Zhenguan period of Emperor Taizong. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Huairou was a strategic place of Yan State, belonging to Yuyang County, and its capital was located in Liyuanzhuang Village, Beifang Town, Huairou District. In the first year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1368), Huairou County was established in the Ming Dynasty, which is basically the same as the jurisdiction of Huairou District today. On December 3, 21, the State Council officially approved Huairou to withdraw from the county and set up a district.
