The Haidong area of ??Xining City, Qinghai Province has an altitude of 1,650-4,636 meters, with an average altitude of more than 2,000 meters, and most areas are between 2,200-3,000 meters above sea level.

Haidong is named after it is located east of Qinghai Lake. Haidong region is located in the eastern section of the Qilian Mountains and the northeastern part of Qinghai Province. The geographical location is between 100°41′-103°04′ east longitude, 35°26′-37°05′ north latitude, and between the upper reaches of the Yellow River and its important tributary Huangshui River. The whole territory is about 124.5 kilometers long from east to west and about 180 kilometers wide from north to south.

The climate in Haidong City is a semi-arid continental climate. Its basic characteristics are: high cold and drought, long sunshine hours, strong solar radiation, large temperature difference between day and night, small temperature difference between winter and summer, long winter and short summer, connected spring and autumn, no severe cold in winter, no scorching heat in summer, mild climate, and large differences in climate and geographical distribution.
