Will travel enthusiasts travel to China on a budget alone? In what state of mind?
No
In the past four years, I have traveled through most parts of China alone. As long as the travel expenses are sufficient, each trip is calculated on a monthly basis. Friends around me and friends on the Internet often ask me why I always travel alone? It seems that everyone is very curious about the mentality of those who like to travel alone. Today I will talk about my own feelings.
I started trying to travel alone in 2015, when I was still in college. At that time, my friends and I were very curious about Tibet, so we all made an appointment to go to mysterious Tibet during the summer vacation. This The idea was simply a fantasy for me who had never been out of the province, but we did what we said. While preparing the travel expenses, we tried to make our own strategies and prepare various things for use on the plateau.
When it was time to set off, no one else could go due to various reasons. I had prepared everything and didn’t want to give up easily, so I got on the train from Guangzhou to Lhasa alone and was forced to travel alone.
I didn’t feel uneasy when I was alone in Tibet for more than a month. Everything around me was new. It felt like a wild horse that had been caged for twenty years suddenly returned. The grassland is extremely exciting. Occasionally I miss home, but most of the time I enjoy this feeling of "escaping" without having to think about homework, work, or wearing a mask to be a human being.
Although this is a short-lived state of life, only those who have owned it know its preciousness. I think this is one of the reasons why many people like to travel alone. It allows people to let go of the chasing-and-chasing state of life, allowing individuals to have time to think independently, and to complete themselves while constantly being exposed to new things. Some people think that a person will feel lonely when traveling outside, but in fact there are many things It will fill up your time. You have to arrange and plan everything from accommodation, meals, routes, and transportation on your own. You also have to deal with many unexpected situations, and there is often not enough time.
After returning from Tibet, I fell in love with the feeling of being alone and free. I went to many places alone one after another, basically all alone. Traveling alone is the most free time. When you are tired, you can stay in the youth hostel for a day without going out. You can stop wherever you want and stay as long as you want. You can eat whatever you want without having to discuss it with others.
I like to travel alone, but I don’t exclude traveling together. In life, I often ask my friends to go hiking and climbing in a beautiful place. I really like this relaxed state. But when traveling long distances, I prefer to go on my own and have time to talk to myself. In addition, there are too many uncertain factors in travel, and I really don’t want others to take risks with me, because travel in most people’s minds is an easy process of checking in at tourist attractions where you buy tickets during the day, and returning to the hotel at night to take selfies. Personally, I prefer to delve deeply into the local culture, customs, and scenery, and try to understand every place I visit. In the process of finding what I want, I can always accept the dilemma of sleeping in the open air.
Obviously everyone has different starting points when it comes to travel. Others like to relax and enjoy it, but I care more about the experience and gains of travel. This is why I choose to travel alone.
