Do I need a passport in Thailand?
According to the provisions of the Passport Law, China citizens should apply for passports or other travel documents when leaving or entering the country. Therefore, if you plan to go to Thailand, you need to apply for a passport in advance so that you can show it when you enter or leave the country. Passport is one of the necessary documents for international travel, which can prove the nationality and identity of the holder, and it is also one of the important documents to be produced when entering or leaving the country.
The Passport Law stipulates that citizens who go abroad for non-official reasons, such as settling in a foreign country, visiting relatives, studying, obtaining employment, traveling, engaging in business activities, etc., shall apply for an ordinary passport from the exit-entry administration of the local authorities at or above the county level where their household registration is located. China residents can apply for a tourist visa to Thailand in advance with a valid passport, and China residents can apply for a 15-day visa after arriving in Thailand. The passport is valid for at least 6 months. In China, Thailand's visas are usually sent through an intermediary, and now Thailand is visa-free. Therefore, agencies generally only charge a certain service fee, and no longer charge the fees required by the embassy.
To sum up, as long as you go abroad, you need a passport whether you are visa-free or not. Besides, at present, Thailand only exempts visa fees and landing visa fees for tourist visas, and visas are still required. If you want to leave, you can't. Passports should be handled at the local entry-exit administration department, and the time varies from region to region, about two weeks.
