Longhui: Spreading Gannan Hakka Culture in Shenzhen

Text/Zeng Xiangyu

"It is the rich Hakka culture in southern Jiangxi that gives me tenacity and persistence." Speaking of his life experience in Ganzhou, Long Hui was very excited. Longhui, who made his mark in Ganzhou literary world in 1970s and 1980s, has never forgotten to spread Hakka culture in Gannan, although his work place and post have changed several times.

I heard that Ganzhou Art Museum is under construction, and Longhui specially sent 10 paintings and calligraphy works. This middle-aged man in Tang suit, ruddy and elegant, speaks slowly. Today, with excellent research results of folk culture, he freely manages a cultural world in Shenzhen, where there are many talents, and becomes a well-known folk culture scholar at home and abroad. The blood of advocating culture runs through my body.

"Horse hurried out of the central plains, legislation everywhere. As time goes by, my country is still in my country, and my hometown is my hometown for a long time. Sooner or later, don't forget your life, and sooner or later, you will recommend your ancestors. May heaven protect me and may the men and women of Sanqi prosper forever. " Long Hui lived in the countryside for some time when he was a child. The ancestral teachings carved with camphor wood hanging in the ancestral temple in his hometown were deeply imprinted in his heart.

"Listen to my parents, my ancestors moved from the Central Plains to the corner of Shan Ye to avoid the war of the Yellow turban insurrectionary in the late Eastern Han Dynasty. It has a history of 1700 years. " Longhui is from Ji Bu Town, Ganxian County. His home is at the foot of Nanling Mountain between northern Guangdong and southern Jiangxi, where the scenery is beautiful. Perhaps influenced by the teachings of his ancestors, he was always content with the status quo in his later years, but he was not willing to be mediocre, and always accumulated knowledge and energy in silence.

16-year-old Long Hui, after graduating from Ganzhou No.1 Middle School, joined the torrent of "educated youth going to the countryside to receive re-education for poor and middle peasants", together with enthusiastic students. The rural life of "facing the loess and facing the sky" has influenced him by the hard-working and enterprising spirit of Hakka people, and the blood of Hakka people advocating culture is flowing in his body.

When he was in the countryside, he often wandered between books and mountains, familiarized himself with classic works such as Water Margin, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, The Journey to the West, Dream of Red Mansions, carefully read Kangxi Dictionary and China Idiom Dictionary, made reading notes as thick as these dictionaries, and extracted some good words and sentences. These materials are still with him today, and they are tossed and turned to inspire him when writing. In his spare time, he also went deep into farmers' homes, carefully observed Hakka culture with curious eyes and collected Hakka folk songs everywhere.

"A person's richest property should be spiritual enjoyment." Love books and reading makes Long Hui rich in knowledge. He admits that he has a car and a house in Shenzhen, but it is not enough to show off. The most commendable thing is that his family has a collection of famous calligraphy and painting and tens of thousands of books. "Books are navigation lights sailing towards the light in the dark." The teachings of the sages in the book made him constantly adjust the course of his life. In the stormy waves, he never gave up like a fisherman in Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea until he sailed to the other side of success.

Now, Long Hui is close to his fate. He lamented that his early life in Ganzhou tempered his will, and he was glad that his interest in Hakka culture accompanied him through the unforgettable years of decentralization to the countryside. Don't forget to spread Hakka culture in Gannan.

"Suffering in life is a common experience of many successful people." Long Hui always smiles at difficulties. He has been involved in workers, farmers, business students, soldiers and other industries, and his life course has a strong imprint of the times. The special experience of "going to the countryside, carrying a gun, being a leader and doing business" not only accumulated rich life experience, but also provided him with a rare opportunity to observe the society from multiple angles.

In the late 1980s, like many mainland youths, he was dissatisfied with the status quo and went to South China to seek his dreams, first in Haikou, Hainan, and then in Pingsha, Zhuhai. By chance, a friend invited him to work in an enterprise in Nanshan, Shenzhen. Just as he was hesitating, a historian said to him, go, go! Nanshan in Shenzhen is a good place, from which the well-known eulogy of "longevity is like the East China Sea, longevity is better than Nanshan" comes. Since then, Long Hui has lived in this strange South China Sea.

When he first arrived here, he joined a Sino-foreign joint venture as a worker under the introduction of a friend. Before that, he was the party secretary of a state-owned enterprise in Ganzhou and the boss of Ganzhou International Travel Service. Long Hui felt a little lost: "Don't say that I am a worker from my official position to the bottom line of my life. At that time, I still had a college diploma! " Long Hui, a worker, goes to work for more than ten hours every day, clocks in at work, and is not allowed to receive visitors. A few months later, Long Hui personally felt the true meaning of the slogan "Time is money, efficiency is life".

Later, I was late for bed twice because I was very tired, and my boss fired me. He was once depressed and even thought of failure, but he was unwilling. After he lost his job, he looked for a job during the day. In the evening, he often walks alone in the seaside of Shekou's Hexagon Bay, letting the waves sweep away his depression and the seagulls take away his thoughts of his loved ones. However, God never shuts one door but he opens another. One day, Long Hui learned that Southern Travel Service wanted an assistant to the general manager. With his working experience in travel agencies, he stands out from many applicants. Soon after, due to his excellent work, he served as business director and branch secretary, and became general manager two years later. In the process of trying to open up the domestic and international tourism market, he has been to many famous mountains and rivers and overseas attractions, and he has never forgotten to spread Hakka culture in Gannan.

Long Hui said with deep affection that he had a stable job and life in Shenzhen through hard work, but he often dreamed of being a tour guide in Ganzhou to lead tourists to visit Tongtianyan. He often wondered what he could do for his hometown in a foreign land. Thinking of his literary creation skills and friends he made in the tourism industry, he took up a pen and wrote dozens of articles introducing Hakka culture in Gannan year after year, which were published in major newspapers at home and abroad, arousing readers' attention and interest in Hakka tourist attractions in Gannan. In addition, he also recommended several groups of businessmen from the United States, Japan, Portugal and other countries and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to visit and invest in his hometown.

"As long as it is good for my hometown, I will never tire of hearing it. Sheep have the grace to kneel, and crows have the meaning to feed back', not to mention people? " This year, when he heard that Gannan was integrating the tourist routes of Hakka geomantic culture, he held an exhibition of China geomantic culture and Li Dingxin's academic achievements in Tianhou Palace, Nanshan, Shenzhen.

After Shenzhen became famous, Wenhai Mo Chi was very happy.

The embodiment of a city life lies in: first, the celebrities who come out from here, and second, the cultural heritage here. If we can't protect history and culture, the city will lose its charm, let alone build a new culture. Based on this, after Long Hui became the curator of Shenzhen Nanshan Tianhou Palace Museum in 2003, he explored the cultural connotation of Nanshan Tianhou Palace with innovative ideas and gained popularity.

He did several important things for Nanshan Tianhou Palace: collecting calligraphy and building a calligraphy forest; Building landmark buildings such as Xiangyun Pavilion; Large-scale folk cultural activities such as "Tianhou Birthday" and "Giving Sand" were held in Tianhou Palace to pay homage to Tianhou, which won unanimous praise from tourists at home and abroad. From this, Shenzhen people got to know Long Hui, a new Hakka from Gannan, and learned more about Hakka culture in Gannan through him.

Today, Longhui has become a well-known person in folk culture at home and abroad, earning both fame and fortune but not being complacent. He said that success in life lies in opportunities and personal efforts. "Sit with the guest boat listening to the rain and watch Yun Qi's life journey. You will gain a suddenly enlightened outlook on life in the emptiness and sadness, understand all sufferings, look down on things outside your body, be open-minded, carefree and happy. Maybe this is Zhi Ming's indifference! How many times can you see such scenery in your life at sunrise and sunset every day? In his spare time, he sat in front of the computer and knocked these life feelings into millions of words to publicize Mazu culture and Gannan Hakka culture. I have written Yearbook of Tianhou Palace and Listening to the Rain by Boat.

Longhui loved calligraphy since childhood. Under the influence of his grandfather, he studied calligraphy in Linchi. Every time after school, he draws a red book according to the tablet of Jiucheng Palace collected at home and knows the door. On holidays, grandpa wrote couplets to his neighbors, and he also accompanied him, scrambling to write them with grandpa. After studying under the famous calligraphers Li Zhenya and Yuan Qingyi in Ganzhou, his calligraphy level was greatly improved. For a time, he was in the political and business circles and had no time to care about dancing and writing. In the first half of the year, Bingzi re-grinded the ink and developed the paper, using the pen freely, and everything was integrated within one foot. On the day when he was sick, he was intoxicated with the circular operation of calligraphy lines, and he was able to recover.

Just like "Kung Fu is above poetry", the promotion of calligraphy art lies in the continuous increase of experience and aesthetics. Longhui has been engaged in the tourism industry 10 years. The famous mountains and rivers of the motherland have left footprints, the changing clouds of Emei, the precipice of Huashan, the stormy waves of the Three Gorges and the inscriptions on couplets in the temple have all given him incomparable nourishment. For 20 years, no matter how busy he is at work, he has to do two things. One is keeping a diary, and the other is writing freely. The art of calligraphy became more and more mature, and he also established his own family. Write couplets and inscriptions for dozens of ancient temples and places of interest in China, and communicate with friends in calligraphy and painting circles at home and abroad. Many calligraphy works are collected by people.

"Since leping, more leisure, not wealth, not an official. Ink dizzy 3,000 pieces of paper, better than Zi Ling fishing. " This poem is like the heart of the dragon emblem in the ink sea.
