There is bamboo in the bamboo chrysanthemum of Meilan and bamboo in Song Mei, which is one of the favorite plants of ancient literati. Wen Zhenheng's description of bamboo is also more detailed. The planting environment, bamboo species and planting methods are all discussed. What is elegant and what is not suitable is clear.

Since it is the favorite plant of literati, Wen Zhenheng naturally spends a lot of pen and ink. First, there are many harsh requirements from the environment of planting bamboo, and then the selection of bamboo, bamboo is the first choice, and the rest are not imported. Finally, four planting methods of bamboo are introduced, and the feeling of careful care is vividly on the paper.

Bamboo has always been sung by literati, and the love for bamboo has become a symbol of taste. Shi's poem "Monk Lu before Fishing" is relished by later generations: "You can not eat meat, but you can't eat bamboo. No meat makes people thin, no bamboo makes people vulgar. People are thin and fat, but ordinary people are incurable. " Without bamboo, planting, painting and chanting bamboo will become a fashion. Why do literati love bamboo so much? Bamboo is tall and thin, but it is not easy to fold. The four seasons are green and first frost is proud of the rain. Scholars personify it and endow it with integrity, elegance and indifference. However, we can't help feeling when we look at the literati who love bamboo in history. Whether it's Wang Wei, who leans alone in the dense bamboo and I play the piano and hum songs in the bamboo, or Liu Zongyuan, who planted 12 stems in the hands of Zhao Yunyu in Qingshui Yi Cong candle water, or Liu Zongyuan, who made love under the eaves, or Liu Zongyuan wrote "Take a thin bamboo as a fishing rod on the autumn wind river" in "Tell me to go home and draw a bamboo for the gentlemen and people in Wei County", Su Shi can become the spiritual mentor of later generations.

For planting bamboo, it is advisable to build soil for ridges, water for streams, bridges for bridges, climbing mountains, sitting on platforms and spreading branches, just like people in a bamboo forest thousands of miles away. Otherwise, open a few acres of land, remove all the miscellaneous trees, surround the stone fence a little higher, and enclose it with stone pillars and bamboo columns, leaving no dust leaves under the bamboo. You can sit on the floor or leave stone platforms and benches. Bamboo takes long branches and huge stems, and Phyllostachys pubescens comes first. Yishan is not suitable for cities. In the city, bamboo shoots are the best, and the rest are not elegant. Pink, tendon, spot and purple are all OK, and Yanzhu is the lowest. Cilao bamboo is a peach branch bamboo, not a personal one. There are also Zhu Mu, Phyllostachys pubescens, Phyllostachys pubescens, Chimonobambusa, Jade, Guanyin, phoenix tail, gold and silver bamboo, etc.

Bambusa bambusa: Bambusa bambusa. Strong and straight, the young pole is slightly white, and the old pole is grayish green. Distributed in Henan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other places. Bamboo: Leaves are long, thin and short, and they can be used to make bamboo, hence the name. Generally green, the lower part of the rod is narrow, and the upper part of the rod is slightly wide. It is distributed in West Tianmu Mountain in Zhejiang, Qujiang District in Hunan and Yangming Mountain in Lingling. Chimonobambusa bambusa: Also called Tetragonal Bambusa. The stems are square, and bamboo shoots appear in all seasons. Distributed in Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Taiwan Province, Hunan and Guangxi provinces. Golden Jasper: Also known as gold-inlaid bamboo, gold-inlaid bamboo, yellow bamboo in the trough, and large-scale clustered bamboo in the south, with golden bamboo poles and green stripes in the internodes, it has high ornamental value. Distributed in southern North China, especially in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. Guanyin: Fine stems and leaves, solid shaft and elegant posture. It is often used as hedges and bonsai. Mostly in hilly areas and streams. Strong cold tolerance, hi-light, semi-shade tolerance. Fast growth and pruning resistance. Fengwei: Also called Fengzhu. The plant is tall, the stem is hollow, the top of the twig is bent downward, the lower part is straight, the stem wall is slightly thin, the nodes are slightly raised and hairless. Gold and silver: namely golden bamboo and silver bamboo. Yellow bamboo is called golden bamboo. Hairless when young, slightly covered with white powder, growing green or yellow-green, produced in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. Silver bamboo, bamboo shoots three or four feet long, fat and crisp, produced in Xining.
