At the beginning of June, I came to Pengjiazhai, Shadaogou Town, Xuanen County, where dozens of diaojiao buildings were clustered together to form a beautiful landscape.

In front of the stockade, the Longtan River flows slowly, and the stream churns slightly, singing all the way. A suspension bridge more than 40 meters long connects the stockade with the outside world. People walk on it, swinging from side to side, making people instantly return to childhood.

Walking into the stockade, the houses built on the mountain are strewn at random with the extension of the terrain, and the roofs are green with smoke and tiles, silently telling people the long history of the stockade. The artistic conception of "seeing the mountains, watching the water and remembering homesickness" arises spontaneously.

The tile eaves add a quaint feeling.

According to reports, the stockade has a history of more than 300 years. During the reign of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty, a man named Peng fled from Yongshun, Hunan Province with his son. Seeing that the mountain was surrounded by water, he settled here. Except for the Li family, all the others in the stockade are Peng.

Of the 23 diaojiao buildings in the village, only one was built in the Qing Dynasty, and the rest were built in modern times. Each building is self-contained, with an area ranging from 100 square meter to several hundred square meters. Generally, the main room is one bright, two dark and three bays, and the niche room is a wing. Some wings are surrounded by upper and lower niches to form a three-story space.

Shaikouwu

Diaojiaolou has single crane, double crane, two-story crane, three-story crane, flat crane and straight crane, covering almost all styles of Diaojiaolou. Therefore, Pengjiazhai is called Tujia Pan Museum.

The diaojiao building is built on a slope, with the main building upstairs and the wing downstairs. Two houses are vertically enclosed to form a small courtyard, or three houses are enclosed to form a patio. Generally, houses have three bays, two floors up and down, three pillars and five rides (pillars that don't fall to the ground) or five pillars and eight rides. There is a main room in the middle and two rooms on both sides. The back room is a bedroom, and the outer room is a fire room.

Traditional fishing gear attracts people's attention.

In addition to the diaojiao building, Pengjiazhai also has a wind and rain bridge. There is a pavilion bridge on the right side of Guanyin Mountain. The bridge was built in Tongzhi of Qing Dynasty for two years, with a history of 100 years. This bridge is10m long, 5m wide and 4m high. It has two rows, a row of riding fans and four rows of fans, a green tile roof and benches on both sides for people to enjoy the cool.

It is really not easy for Pengjiazhai Diaojiao Building Group, which integrates the beauty of space, hierarchy and outline, to be completely preserved.

In 2004, Zhang, an archaeologist in China and a professor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, put forward the protection proposal of "keeping the old appearance as before", which kicked off the protection project of Pengjiazhai characteristic village, and upgraded all the wires and switches of Pengjiazhai complex to ensure safety. Install fire hoses; Water, kitchen and toilet have all been changed, and trash cans and traditional bamboo fences have been built.

Now, this ancient stockade, which is listed as the seventh batch of key cultural relics protection units in China, has ushered in a new life. Pengjiazhai is being built into a 5A-level scenic spot.
