The wall is simple, and the appearance was originally brushed with yellow cement, and then painted with light green paint. The white decorative pattern between the windows and the shrinking pattern above the entrance door frame show the influence of Art Deco style.

It is said that the apartment was built with Chinese investment. After the completion of the project, the owner took the real estate as collateral, borrowed money from Chinachem Real Estate Company, which belongs to New Sassoon Foreign Firm, and later sold it to Chinachem Real Estate Company at a premium because it was unable to repay the principal and interest, and then changed hands several times. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the apartment was renamed Xihu Apartment. In 1982, two floors were added to the original building, which had a great influence on the original architectural style.

When it was first built, the apartment was 9 floors with reinforced concrete structure, which was the largest apartment at that time. The standard floor is made up of three units, and each unit has a main staircase and an auxiliary staircase. Besides the stairs, there is also an elevator. It is one of the earliest apartments using elevators in Shanghai apartment building. In that era when many people still regarded electric lights as a rarity, it was too fashionable to use elevators. Moreover, the apartment completely abandoned the European Renaissance style popular in Shanghai at that time and accepted the calendar years of western modern architecture, which was very concise.

Huisile Apartment, now Jiya Apartment, was built in 1942. At that time, according to the requirements of the owner, the design was designed for simple families and single solitary households, similar to today's serviced apartments. The apartment is simple in shape and its style was popular in Shanghai in the 193s and 194s.

The building plane is T-shaped, with seven stories high in the middle of the facade and four stories high in the wings, and the two sides gradually drop symmetrically. The vertical white cement decorative belt in the middle is in sharp contrast with the yellow exterior wall.

Although the apartment is unremarkable, it is not small. It is the first project of Fan Wenzhao, a famous architect in China, after completing the Meiqi Grand Theatre in 1941. Fan Wenzhao is an important architect in the history of modern architecture in China. His early works were mostly western retro styles, and later influenced by modern western decorative art school, his works turned to decorative art style, with Jiya Apartment as one of his representative works. The building is built along the street, with shops on the ground floor and apartments above the second floor. The architectural style is simple and generous, and the style was popular in Shanghai in the 193s and 194s. In the 198s, when the house was overhauled, the exterior wall was changed into a yellow mosaic.

Kevin Apartment, the north building is located at No.525, hengshan road (and No.75, Jianguo West Road), which is called Big Kevin Apartment, and the south building is located at No.75, Jianguo West Road, which is called Little Kevin Apartment, which was built in 1932. The building is a modernist apartment with a simple appearance. The shape of the building is raised in the middle and gradually dropped on both sides. After 1949, it was converted into an athlete's dormitory. Until the 199s, it became the earliest hotel-style apartment in Shanghai.

Hengshan Hotel, No.534, hengshan road, was originally Picardi Apartment, a luxury apartment on Bettan Road in the west of the French Concession. Picardi is a regional name in northern France. This is a modern point apartment, which was built in 1934. It was invested by China Jianye Real Estate Company, a subsidiary of the French merchant Shanghai International Livestock Storage Association, designed by the French merchant construction company, and built by Pan Rongji, Hu Shunji, Liyuanji and Chen Yongji.

After 1945, the World Savings Association closed down and cleaned up, and Bikadi apartment was also auctioned. In 1955, Bikadi Apartment was changed into Hengshan Guest House to receive Soviet experts. In 196, it was changed to a hotel, called "Hengshan Hotel", where the municipal government received distinguished guests. In 1985, two floors were partially added. Now it is Hengshan Hotel.

Hengshan Mountain is adjacent to Xujiahui Greenland and Hengshan Park, with elegant environment, spacious and comfortable rooms, which are favored by guests, and the interior decoration is mainly in French style. The whole apartment faces south and consists of three parts: east, west and middle. The building is a steel frame structure with a height of 16 stories. The building plane is surrounded by three sides according to the wedge-shaped terrain, and it was originally a spiral three-story garage. The elevation of the wedge end is symmetrical, emphasizing vertical composition, with the middle height and two low, and the wings are stepped and falling, but without any additional lines or patterns, only the feeling of vertical vertical lines is formed by its own body, and the Art Deco style is only slightly reflected in the overall image.

No.7 Hengshan Apartment in hengshan road, built in 1936, was formerly known as Betan Apartment. The building belongs to an apartment with the characteristics of Art Deco style. During the Anti-Japanese War, the apartment was once occupied by Japanese businessmen. In 1946, it was nationalized by the Industrial Processing Bureau of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui Provinces of the National Government. Now it is a residential building.

The apartment is seven stories high, with one staircase and two households, and the space and facade are organized in a symmetrical way. Compared with other higher-grade apartment buildings in the same period, this apartment has infiltrated the simplicity of modernist architectural style, and the center of the south facade is no longer the vertical decorative line used by Art Deco. The design of large bay windows and large rooms shows that the architectural style has gradually given way to practical and economic needs here.

No.811, hengshan road, the "Little Red Mansion" in Xujiahui Park, is the fourth batch of outstanding historical buildings in Shanghai, and a detached garden house with some style characteristics during the Art Nouveau Movement in the West. Because of its red tile roof and red brick walls all over it, it is called "Little Red Mansion". This small building was once the central nerve of EMI.

At the end of 19th century, EMI Records Company landed in Shanghai, and in 1921, it bought the land at No.1434 Xujiahui Road (that is, No.811 hengshan road), set up a record manufacturing company and built the first recording studio in Shanghai. In the past, the Red Chamber was not red now, but the cement on the outer wall was gray. The ground floor of the small building was used for recording and entertainment, and the second floor was the editing room. The third floor is the living room and bedroom of the company boss. On the wall of the ground floor, there is still a picture frame with recording instructions, which was signed in 1983. It is conceivable that the original recording studio was still in use until then.

in 1934, EMI closed down and British businessmen took over. After the Pacific War broke out, it was taken over by the Japanese army. After liberation, Chinese record factories took over. In 1982, China Record Corporation was established, and here is China Record Shanghai Company. The second phase project of Xujiahui Greenland started, and the record company was relocated. Later, Xiaohonglou became a western restaurant.

For quite a long time, Xiaohonglou was the best recording studio in China. Almost all the heavyweights in the history of modern art in China have left their footprints here. Xian Xinghai, Zhou Xuan, Hu Die, Li Xianglan, Mei Lanfang, etc. are all proud to record in Xiaohonglou. The wonderful representative works of the 193s and 194s, such as "Cordate telosma" and "Rose Rose I Love You", were recorded here. In 1931, Nie Er began to work as a music editor in EMI Company, where he created a large number of famous works. Until the last decade or two, many musicians still chose this place as their first choice for recording. The strings and chorus in Tayu Lo's Love Song 2, including A Night in Shanghai, were all completed here.

The architecture of Xiaohonglou is like these music playing a perfect chapter of the integration of Chinese and Western architectural arts, and it is a witness to the history of Chinese records. It is a perfect combination of music and architectural rhythm.
