The tourist area of Genghis Khan Mausoleum is located in Gandell Grassland in Ejinhoro Banner, southeast of Ordos City, about 3 kilometers away from Chengling. As a national monument, Genghis Khan Mausoleum records the vicissitudes of Mongolian history and splendid culture. Legend has it that Genghis Khan passed through Ordos when he led the army to levy Xixia. It's really a land of geomantic omen to witness the abundant aquatic plants and deer. He was intoxicated by the beautiful natural scenery and accidentally dropped the saddle on the ground. His men were about to pick up the saddle, but Genghis Khan stopped him and said to himself. This is "the place where sika deer live, the hometown where birds brood in Dai Sheng, the place where declining dynasties are revitalized, and the country where white-haired old people enjoy happiness". And told the left and right: "I can be buried here after I die." After Genghis Khan's death, when the hearse carrying his coffin went to Ordos, the wheels suddenly sank into the swamp, and many horses and cattle could not be pulled out. The general who escorted the hearse recalled what Genghis Khan once said, so he put his "felt bag, shirt and a sock here and offered them for worship."
