Yantai Mountain Travel Notes
As the saying goes, you cannot say you have been to Beijing without visiting the Forbidden City; similarly, you cannot say you have been to Yantai without visiting Yantai Mountain. So, in a crisp autumn season, several classmates and I made an appointment to go to Yantai Mountain.
We arrived at Yantai Mountain at 8 o'clock. That day, the sun was shining brightly, and occasionally there was a slight breeze blowing across my cheeks. When we walked into the door, the first thing we saw were European-style classical buildings: red walls, corridors, and chimneys. I felt like I was in Europe in the 19th century, not Yantai in the 21st century. Unfortunately, the old U.S. Consulate building was not open yet, so we decided to move on and eventually return to visit the house.
We walked up the slope and when we looked up we saw several big characters - Yantai Peking Opera Art Museum. When I walked in, I realized that this art museum today was originally the former residence of the Deputy Taxation Department of Dongguan Customs, symbolizing the privileges of foreigners in China. Entering from the main gate, there is a slightly smaller door. On both sides of the door are various facial masks. The top of the door is "Peking Opera Art Museum" written in seal script, like a couplet. The Peking Opera Art Exhibition is divided into three exhibition halls, which introduce the formation, development, prosperity and colorful art of Peking Opera respectively. Wandering in the palace of art, I just feel my whole body boiling, and a sense of national pride wells up in my heart. Peking Opera, as China's "national opera", is eclectic, eclectic, has a broad vision, and draws on the strengths of others. It is worthy of being a cultural treasure of the Chinese nation. The artists of the older generation such as Tan Xinpei and Wang Yaoqing are constantly innovating and their enterprising spirit makes me stand in admiration in front of them: because of your existence, Peking Opera will be as prosperous and exciting as it is now. Likewise, because of our existence, the future of Peking Opera will be more prosperous and exciting.
After leaving the art museum, we continued up the stairs. When we reached the end, we saw two majestic lions. They guarded the 89 people who were buried here for the liberation of Yantai on August 24, 1945. The heroic spirits of soldiers. Behind the lion is a towering monument to the martyrs, on which the words "National heroes will be remembered for eternity" shine brightly in the sunlight. I look up to you with reverence. You come from the people, belong to the people, and are willing to give up your lives for the happiness of the people. The people will never forget you, and New China will never forget you. We will realize your ambitions and complete your unfinished business. Rest in peace, heroes!
The name of Yantai is related to the beacon tower, so after leaving the monument, we came to the beacon tower. The beacon tower was built in the 31st year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1398). In ancient times, it was a military facility for setting off fireworks to warn enemies. Now it has become a historic site and a piece of history for tourists to appreciate and savor. Because wolf dung is often used as fuel for fireworks, the smoke is thick and straight when burning. It is also called the wolf smoke pier, and the name Yantai comes from this. Standing on the beacon tower, looking up into the distance, you can see the sparkling waves on the boundless sea, and ships can be vaguely seen moving on the white sea. The blue sky and blue sea, the thin line between sea and sky, I was intoxicated by this beautiful scenery and couldn't extricate myself for a long time.
After coming down from the beacon tower, I turned a corner and saw the Yantai Stone, which was engraved with patriotic poems by people with lofty ideals. Entering from the side door is the Martyrs' Shrine dedicated to Yue Fei and Guan Yu. There is a 20-meter-high white flagpole in front of the main entrance of the courtyard. The flagpole is hung with colorful flags, which is the highest welcome ceremony. It is said that when the founding father Sun Yat-sen passed through Yantai from Nanjing to Peiping, this flagpole was covered with colorful flags. Its other function is to signal to passing ships and convey information about the weather.
After leaving the yard, we decided to return to the former site of the US Consulate. Along the way, you can see the words "former site of the consulate of a certain country" from time to time. In addition to the United States, there are also the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, France, etc. It's a shame, it's our shame. The former site of the U.S. Consulate displays hundreds of years of Yantai's history from the Qing Dynasty to the present, including all aspects of politics, economy, culture, and social life. Looking at the yellowed old photos and portraits, and the historical evidence, I couldn't help but shed tears. Tears contain too much: tears of sadness are shed for my troubled motherland and my compatriots who have been bullied; tears of anger are because of the greed and cruelty of the invaders; tears of joy are for our motherland today. Rise again and flow.
When we walked out of the former site of the US Consulate, the sun outside was still bright and the sky was still blue. My heart is a little heavy: the motherland's yesterday was full of shame, and today the motherland is prosperous and strong. What about the motherland's tomorrow? The future of our motherland is written by us. With a splash of ink, we create a prosperous tomorrow.
I waved goodbye to Yantai Mountain, but my inner thoughts still continued: What practical actions should I, a college student in the new century, take to submit a perfect answer to the motherland?
