Jingangtai Town is located in Shangcheng County on the border of Henan Province. According to the Reply of Henan Provincial Civil Affairs Department and Xinyang Municipal People's Government on Renaming Sigudun Township in Shangcheng County as Jingangtai Township, Sigudun Township in this county was renamed as Jingangtai Township in August 2007, and No.2015 was approved by the provincial people's government and the Provincial Civil Affairs Department [2014] No.49. After the name change of Jingangtai Township, the county did a good job in changing procedures, unifying seals, plaques and other related work in time, gave full play to the brand effect of Jingangtai, actively publicized it, and strived to improve the popularity of Jingangtai Scenic Area and promote the rapid development of tourism economy. It is a mountainous township, an old district township and a tourist township. The total area of the township is 98.6 square kilometers, the cultivated land area is 18000 mu, the forest area is 7 1600 mu, and the water area is 2600 mu. The pillar industries are tourism, small miscellaneous fruits, tea, chestnut, sericulture, and rich in non-ferrous metal molybdenum and limestone. There are more than 2,000 species of animals and plants, among which more than 80 species of animals and plants, such as black stork, white crowned pheasant, leopard, giant salamander, pangolin, five-needle pine in Dabie Mountain, ginkgo, fragrant fruit and Eucommia ulmoides, are listed as rare and endangered animals and plants under national and provincial key protection. Especially, there are new amphibian genera and species in the park.
