Mudu Ancient Town is a famous tourist destination in Suzhou Guzhen Village.

Located in the west of Suzhou, on the shore of Taihu Lake, it is a famous ancient town in the south of the Yangtze River. He specially built a pavilion and a baby palace for her at the top of Lingyan Mountain in Yixiu, and a Gusutai on Zishi Mountain. "It takes three years to pick wood, and five years to become useful." A steady stream of wood blocked the river port at the foot of the mountain to blaspheme, hence the name Mudu.

A long history of more than 2,500 years has given birth to a splendid Mudu culture. Since ancient times, Mudu has been full of humanities and talents. From the Northern Song Dynasty to the late Qing Dynasty, * * * produced 25 scholars, including more than 30 people, including 2 champions, 1 second.

Famous figures include: Fan Zhongyan, a politician and writer in the Northern Song Dynasty, Shen Deqian, a famous poet and writer in the Qing Dynasty, Feng Guifen, an enlightenment thinker and political commentator in the late Qing Dynasty, Shen Shou, a modern embroidery queen, and Yan Jiagan, a politician in Taiwan Province.

As a transportation hub between Suzhou City and the vast Taihu Lake, Mudu is a veritable gateway to Taihu Lake, so in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Mudu was the most prosperous commercial port in the west of Suzhou City.

During the Qianlong period, Xu Yang, a court painter, painted a realistic long scroll "Gusu Shengshi", also known as "Gusu Shengshi", with a total length of 1.225cm, half of which was painted by Mudu, which shows the prosperity of that year.

In the Qing dynasty, Qianlong went to Jiangnan six times and stayed in Mudu six times. He composed poems with his teacher Shen Deqian, and drank tea and played chess with his good friend Xu Shiyuan, leaving a famous legend.

Now more than 200 years have passed, the pattern and style of Mudu ancient town have not changed, and it is still the largest commercial port in Wuxi and the first water town in Gusu. The ancient courtyard of the town is deep and the bridges are flowing. Among them, Xujiang River was built by Wu Zixu, which is the first artificial canal in China. Xiangxi is famous for its beauty and fragrance. Every river and bridge in Mudu has an ancient and beautiful legend, which is highly ornamental and appreciative.

Mudu is surrounded by mountains and adjacent to Taihu Lake. There are real mountains and rivers, small bridges and flowing water, private gardens, celebrities' former residences and many other cultural relics and historic sites. Therefore, Mudu Scenic Area ranks first among Taihu Scenic Area 13 scenic spots.

As the only ancient garden town in China, there are more than 30 private gardens in Mudu in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and more than 0 gardens/kloc-0 have been preserved so far. Among them, the Garden is the former residence of the master of Qianlong and the longest-lived poet in China, and later belongs to Yan, the richest man in Mudu. The layout of the park is dense and tortuous, and the competition is suitable. The local treatment is exquisite and elegant, deep and graceful.

It shows the original gardening art of the builders. Modern architects such as Liu Dunzhen, Liang Sicheng and Boy Scouts visited this garden many times and spoke highly of it, calling it the "leader" of Suzhou gardens.

Yin Hong Mountain Residence is the former residence of Xu Shiyuan, a Mudu scholar. It covers a wide area and has an architectural atmosphere. Its "beautiful scenery and beautiful flowers and trees in the pool pavilion" is far superior to other gardens, and Qianlong must visit this garden every time he goes to Mudu. Gusong Garden was the former residence of Cai, a rich man in Mudu in the late Qing Dynasty. The carved building in the garden is beautifully carved, which is the same masterpiece as the carved building in Dongting Dongshan, and can be called the carved building of the north and south sisters.

Mansion No.2 is the former residence of Feng Guifen, the forerunner of Westernization Movement and a famous political commentator. Three sculptures (brick, wood and stone) in the south of the Yangtze River are the treasures of its town hall. Lingyanshan Pavilion is the private property of Bi Yuan, the champion of Mudu in Qing Dynasty. It is a famous landscape garden in Wuzhong. Mudu private garden not only inherits the exquisiteness and profundity of Suzhou gardens, but also has its open and lofty personality, full of atmosphere and imperial spirit.
