The flood in 1974 occurred several times in the upper reaches of Guanting in the middle and late July of 1974. The maximum flood peak at Xiangshuibao Station in Yanghe was 124m3/s, and the water level of the reservoir reached 476m on August 1st and 477m on August 8th. After the "July 5.8" flood in Henan Province in 1976, the flood control standard of the compound reservoir was only once in 37 years.
