Introduction to Huayuankou

Huayuankou is located on the south bank of the Yellow River, 18 kilometers away from the northern suburbs of Zhengzhou City. If you can’t find the specific location of the scenic spot when traveling there, you can write down the English name and ask the locals.

The Huayuankou Scenic Area is a water-based scenic tourist area built with the Huayuankou Incident as the axis, the river scenery as the background, and the Yellow River Embankment as the support. The main scenic spots include: Jiangjun Dam, Zhengzhou Yellow River Highway Bridge, Gangli Reservoir, Pakou Site, Chronicle Square and other famous attractions.

The stele pavilion in the east was built by the Yellow River Control Department after the founding of the People's Republic of China. It records in detail the historical facts of the Huayuankou of the Yellow River from the opening to the blocking and recovery. When the dam was opened, the entrance was about 30 meters wide. Later, it was continuously washed away by floods and reached a width of 1,460 meters. Jiangjunba was built in the 8th year of Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1745).
