After graduating from Longnan Normal School, Lai Guanyang returned to his hometown to work as a teacher. Lai Guanyang didn't appreciate and ponder the profound Hakka culture carefully at first, until he once discovered the great value and significance of Hakka history and culture because of compiling genealogy. 1985, the county compiled Longnan County Records, and Lai Guanyang received the task of collecting historical materials from Lai Xing, so he came into contact with genealogy. Turning over the genealogy that has not been seen for decades, Lai Guanyang opened his eyes. It turns out that the anecdotes recorded in the genealogy of ancestors and sages who are not afraid of violence, are charitable, skillful in using their minds, and unite and help each other, as well as the concise and profound family instructions, all show the Hakka spirit of "diligence, pioneering, enterprising, advocating newspaper first and harmony first". Lai Guanyang kept these stories in mind and began to like genealogy.
If the compilation of genealogy made Lai Guanyang realize the value of Hakka traditional culture, then an accidental opportunity made Lai Guanyang find the "golden key" to carry forward Hakka traditional culture. In the early 1990s, Hakka wai houses in Longnan began to be known, but there were no systematic and specific publicity materials. On one occasion, a group of professors and experts from the United States and France came to Yangcun to visit the tall and majestic round house in Yi Yan, but no one could tell why at that time, which made the experts and scholars who like to get to the bottom of it regret it. This incident touched Lai Guanyang very much. He thought: Isn't the Hakka paddock a concrete embodiment of Hakka history and culture? Why not do a study of Hakka enclosed houses first? With his initiative, Lai Guanyang was soon given a comprehensive understanding and arrangement of relevant information about Yi Yan Huanfang in the town.
Throughout the summer vacation, Lai Guanyang shuttled back and forth in Yi Yan pen house, from measuring the height and thickness of pen house with a ruler, to repeatedly drawing the structure diagram of pen house, from collecting legends and stories of pen house, to writing the architectural value and defense function of pen house, and so on, all of which he did unequivocally. Lai Guanyang was shocked again in the process of cleaning up the walled house. He never found Hakka enclosed houses so magical and great. This is the carrier that can best reflect Hakka culture. In his view, to promote Hakka culture, we should start from enclosing houses.
Yi Yan Wai House is the first work to promote Hakka Wai House after Lai Guanyang studied Yi Yan Wai House. This paper introduces the historical background, origin, structure and function of the enclosed houses in Yi Yan in detail, which was published in the Journal of Gannan Normal University and reported as "Information of Yi Yan Enclosed Houses Applying for National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units". In July, 20001year, Yi Yan Wai House was directly upgraded from a county-level cultural relics protection unit to a national key cultural relics protection unit, and the Hakka Wai House in Longnan began to broadcast far and wide, attracting attention.
Lai Guanyang was very excited when he first tasted the results, and then he devoted himself to compiling other Hakka enclosed houses. Taking Yang Taiwei, his birthplace, as an example, he wrote the article "Hakka Dwellings in Longnan-Wai House", which comprehensively and systematically introduced the historical background, characteristics and functions of Hakka Wai House in Longnan, and published it in the magazine "Study on the Protection of Famous Houses in Famous Historical and Cultural Towns in China" published by the Ministry of Construction. Since then, Lai Guanyang has inspected and sorted out the five-hole boat-shaped paddock, Taiping Bridge and Kansai New paddock, making the Hakka paddock in Longnan known to the world, and Lai Guanyang himself has become a well-known Hakka paddock research expert in the county.
achievement
At the end of 2000, a crew of CCTV's "Oriental Time and Space Live China" came to Longnan and wanted to broadcast live on the 50 th Fair in Yangcun. At that time, it was a golden opportunity for a mountainous county to go to CCTV. * * * During the dinner, director Yan suggested writing a detailed and vivid background material as soon as possible. If it fails to meet the requirements, the live broadcast plan of Bushiwei will be cancelled. The burden fell on Lai Guanyang's shoulders again. This is to publicize the success or failure of Longnan Foreign House. He is under a lot of pressure. He was stuck in a traffic jam for a week at Fifty Fairs, and locked himself in his room at night and worked hard. Finally, he produced a complete written material, which was fully affirmed and praised by Yan. On February 4th, 20001year, Samurai Wei went to the world through the lens of CCTV's "Oriental Time and Space Live in China" and entered the eyes and hearts of people all over the world.
Since then, the reputation of Hakka enclosed houses in Longnan has been greatly improved, and tourists from home and abroad have come to visit the enclosed houses in an endless stream. Lai Guanyang retired at that time, but the journey of spreading Hakka culture did not end. After that, media from all over the country flocked to focus on Longnan Waifu. Lai Guanyang frequently appeared in the camera as a guest and became the pioneer of Hakka enclosure communication. Every year, a large number of experts and students from all over the country come to Longnan to visit enclosed houses. When they found Lai Guanyang, he enthusiastically guided and introduced them. Professors and students from Beijing Research Institute, Central Academy of Fine Arts, Sun Yat-sen University, Xiamen University and many other institutions have forged a deep friendship with Lai Guanyang.
With the passage of time and the accumulation of culture, Lai Guanyang has not only been satisfied with the collection and arrangement of Hakka dwellings and culture, but has devoted his eyes and energy to writing more meaningful papers. Jiulian Mountain is a national nature reserve. Experts have explored the knowledge of animals and plants in it, but they have never studied and sorted out human history. Lai Guanyang decided to fill this gap.
In order to be true and meticulous, regardless of his age, he spent a year traveling all over Jiulian Mountain, wading through mountains and rivers, rain or shine. Sometimes, in order to verify a data and a detail, he has to visit several villages and climb several mountains. Finally, he interviewed and studied the historical legends, humanistic customs and modern historical facts related to Jiulian Mountain, and wrote a monograph "Hakka Holy Mountain Jiulian Mountain", which made the mountains and rivers beautiful and outstanding. His papers "The Earliest Hakka in Gannan" and "The Relationship between Clans and Peasants from the Development of Taochuan Lai" discussed the origin of Hakka ancestors and the significance of peasant clans from the unique perspective of Hakka, which provided theoretical basis and rational understanding for popularizing Hakka cultural knowledge and building a harmonious society in rural areas.
report
Like an old cellar wine that is gently opened, its rich and lasting fragrance is intoxicating. After continuous publicity and promotion, the Hakka enclosed houses and Hakka culture in Longnan have gone from obscurity to worldwide fame, and have been understood, fascinated and amazed by more and more people in the world. Lai Guanyang was an early Hakka cultural disseminator in this county. He was born in a Hakka paddock in Longnan, and he is full of strong interest and deep affection for Hakka culture, and is committed to promoting his hometown culture.
Lai Guanyang, 68, was born in Yangtaiwei, Yangcun Town, longnan county, which has a strong Hakka flavor. Lai Guanyang was exposed to the colorful folk activities in rural areas since he was a child, and was subtly influenced by Hakka culture, which accumulated rich cultural details for him to embark on the road of Hakka culture communication in the future.
Later, Lai Guanyang realized that Hakka culture, which is closely related to Hakka enclosed houses, is more extensive and profound, so it is necessary to carry forward Hakka culture and push it to the world together with Hakka enclosed houses. Taiping Dragon Boat Festival is a unique Hakka folk activity in Yangcun, which has lasted for hundreds of years from Hongzhi period in Ming Dynasty. In order to inject more cultural elements into folk activities, Lai Guanyang proposed that folk entertainment should be combined with the current situation, and dragon boat racing should be combined with cultural taste. With his participation in planning, the annual Taiping Dragon Boat Festival has increasingly highlighted Hakka cultural characteristics and become a grand festival for Hakka people in the border areas of Jiangxi and Guangdong. Lai Guanyang served as the Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee of Yangcun Dragon Boat Race for more than 0/0 years, and persistently carried out this folk cultural activity, making it enduring and enriching farmers' spiritual and cultural life. In 2008, under Lai Guanyang's enthusiastic appeal, the local government raised tens of thousands of yuan to improve the related facilities of Taiping Dragon Boat Race, and now it is applying to include Taiping Dragon Boat Race in the list of intangible cultural heritage protection.
In 2008, longnan county was designated as the Hakka Culture Year, and the first China Longnan Hakka Cultural Tourism Festival was held. Many news media have gathered in Longnan, and the upsurge of enclosure research, protection, development and utilization is heating up again. The work of creating a national 4A scenic spot in Kansai New Area is in full swing. "I am very proud to see the closed houses and culture of my hometown displayed to the whole world. It is the responsibility and obligation of Hakkas to make some contributions to their hometown in their own meager way. There is still a long way to go to spread Hakka culture. This is a journey with no end. I hope that the younger generation can continue to inherit Hakka traditional culture, carry forward Hakka enterprising spirit and build Hakka Longnan better! " Lai Guanyang's simple words express the voice of a Hakka old man.
