Best time to travel

Spring (March-May), April-May, azaleas bloom all over the mountains and plains. It is the most beautiful season in Mount Fanjing.

In summer (June-August), the waterfalls are hung with curtains and the deep pools are like mirrors. On the peaks above 1,600 meters above sea level, deciduous trees and pine trees block out the sky. You can go to the Black Bay River Waterfalls and Taiping. Have fun rafting on the river. The precipitation season is concentrated from May to August, and there are often brief thunderstorms. If you travel during this time, you should bring an umbrella and thicker clothes.

Autumn (September-November) seems to have entered a colorful world. As the altitude decreases, various colors such as red, yellow, purple, and green gradually appear. Around the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, the weather is usually sunny, so you can mainly watch the sunrise and sunset and admire the moon.

In winter (December-February), silver snakes dance on the mountain, and the crystal-clear snow makes Mount Fanjing look like a pure landscape painting, which is truly beautiful.

What to wear

The climate on the top of the mountain is changeable. It is best to bring long-sleeved clothes, thin coats in summer and thick coats in spring and autumn. You should prepare rain gear when going in summer. The wind on the top of the mountain is strong, so raincoats are more practical than umbrellas. When climbing mountains in winter, you need to wear quick-drying clothes and fleece jackets. When riding the ropeway to the top of the mountain, you can wear thin thermal underwear or sports bra + fleece jacket.

Fanjing Mountain is located in the Tongren area in the northeastern part of Guizhou Province, with an altitude of 2,572 meters. It is the main peak of the Wuling Mountains, a national nature reserve, and a member of the United Nations "Man and the Biosphere" protection network. The total area is 567 square kilometers.

Primitive wilderness is the landscape characteristic of Fanjing Mountain. The whole area is majestic, with mountains, crisscrossing streams, and waterfalls. Its iconic attractions include: Red Cloud Golden Summit, Moon Mirror Mountain, Ten Thousand Meters Sleeping Buddha, Mushroom Stone, Ten Thousand Volumes of Sutras, Nine Dragon Pond, Phoenix Mountain, etc.

Fanjing Mountain has a complex mountain shape and a changeable environment, thus forming one of the few biodiversity bases in the world. According to scientific research data, there are about 2,000 plant species in the area, and 31 species are listed as nationally protected plants, including 6 species of first-level protected plants and 25 species of second-level protected plants. There are 44 different forest types, including Davidia involucrata forest, hemlock forest, aquamarine forest, and boxwood forest.

The primeval forest is home to a variety of nationally protected animals that are on the verge of extinction, such as: Guizhou golden monkey, Tibetan emirate, clouded leopard, Sumatran antelope, black bear, etc. Among them, the Guizhou golden monkey is known as the "only child of the earth". There are only about 800 left and it is a rare animal under national key protection.

Airplane

Tongren Airport is 21 kilometers away from Tongren City and 34 kilometers away from Fenghuang County. Tongren Airport has opened 14 domestic flight routes. Airport transportation: Daxing Airport is located in Daxing Town, Songtao County, Tongren Prefecture. It takes less than half an hour to get to Tongren City. There are shuttle buses between the city and the airport.

High-speed rail

From Guiyang to Tongren South Station, you can take the high-speed rail directly from Changsha, Shaoshan, Yueyang, Wuhan, Xianning, Nanchang, Xinyang, Zhengzhou, Hangzhou, Jinhua, Yiwu, etc. There are now high-speed trains from everywhere to Tongren South Station, which is very convenient. From the high-speed rail station to Tongren city, you can take a bus or scheduled minibus at the high-speed rail bus station.

Train

There are trains to Tongren from Chengdu, Chongqing, Shenzhen, Ningbo, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Huizhou, Changsha, Xiamen, Guilin, Dazhou and Hangzhou Xi'an.
