The "Wanshu Miscellaneous Notes" of the Ming Dynasty records: Lingquan Temple started in the Ling (Ling) Shui Village in the Han Dynasty. It was rebuilt by monks and sailors during the Hongzhi period (1485-1505), and it was recorded in the Records of Shujishi. Not a single tile of the Han Dynasty architecture remains, and we can only obtain some information about the temple in the Ming Dynasty.
Lingquan Temple has three main halls, facing south, with a green brick imitation wood structure on the mountain gate, a mountain-style ridge, a tile roof, a kissing beast, a hanging beast, wind chimes hanging from the four corners, and stone carvings. There is a stone carving of Lingquan Temple on the forehead of the door where the certificate is issued, and there is an inscription that Yuan Gongli, the first generation abbot, reopened the mountain gate on the auspicious day of July in the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty (1553). There is a side door built with green bricks on both sides of the mountain gate. Behind the mountain gate are the Tianwang Hall, the Third Buddha Hall, and the Three Great Scholars Hall. The Third Buddha Hall is three rooms wide, with a tiled roof hanging from the ridge, a bracket, and Buddha statues painted on the wall of the arch. There is a wide platform in front of the hall. There are side doors on both sides of the Third Buddha Hall, three auxiliary rooms on the east side, and a four-in-one courtyard on the west side. The three main halls are three rooms wide, with monks' rooms on both sides. From the records, we can see the grand architectural scale of Lingquan Temple and the once prosperous incense. Lingquan Temple now only has a mountain gate, an ancient locust tree, and two ginkgo trees. One of the ginkgo trees is a male and female body and bears golden fruits every year. In the west of the village, there are Nanhai Fire Dragon King Temple, Tianxian Holy Mother Temple, Guanyin Hall, and Erlang Temple. These four temples are closely adjacent.
