I don't know exactly where you started from in Jiangsu. If it is near Shanghai, I suggest you choose Shanghai as the starting point, where there are K533 and K 1373 trains that go directly to Zhangjiajie. This is cheaper than flying.

If it is near Nanjing, there are direct flights from Nanjing to Zhangjiajie. If it is in or around Zhenjiang, this week my inn hosted several graduates from Jiangsu University of Science and Technology to travel to Zhangjiajie. Take their itinerary as an example and tell you their itinerary.
