About the Japanese Department of Yunnan Normal University

Japanese Department of Foreign Languages College of Yunnan Normal University was established in 2004. It is a four-year undergraduate major approved by the Ministry of Education, and officially enrolls students nationwide. The Japanese Department aims to serve the social and economic development and cultivate compound talents in the tourism industry, and has established a bilingual training mode of Japanese and English for foreign-related tourism. Since 2008, the Japanese Department has begun to recruit graduate students majoring in Japanese for the whole country. There are 7 teachers in Japanese Department, including 2 associate professors, 3 lecturers and 2 teaching assistants, and 2~3 Japanese teachers are employed to teach every year. Most teachers have the experience of studying and studying in Japan. Since its establishment, Japanese teachers have published more than 50 papers in domestic and foreign journals. Compile and publish 2 professional textbooks.

The teaching achievements of Japanese Department are remarkable. In 2006, 2007 and 2008, students won the second prize and the third prize in the national Japanese speech contest for three consecutive years. In 2007, Yunnan Cai Yun Cup Japanese Tour Guide Speech Competition won the Silver Award and the Excellence Award respectively; More than 20 students have obtained national Japanese and English tour guide qualification certificates. In 2008, the employment rate of the first graduates reached 100%, and five of them went to work in Macao, which was well received. In 2008, the Japanese Department also received a special scholarship from the Japan Institute of World Citizens' Peace.
