On May 22, 2007, the National Tourism Administration issued a notice on its official website. After the on-site acceptance by the evaluation team appointed by the National Tourism Scenic Spot Quality Rating Committee, the National Tourism Scenic Spot Quality Rating Committee deliberated and passed, and decided to approve 66 scenic spots such as Beijing Palace Museum as national 5A-level tourist attractions. The number of pilot units for the establishment of 5A-level tourist attractions recommended by provincial-level tourist attractions assessment agencies to the National Tourism Administration within the specified period reached 106, and in the final assessment, 66 of them became 5A-level tourist attractions. As of May 20021,19, there were 304 5A scenic spots in China.
