The most economical way from Chengdu, Sichuan to Lijiang is to go to Liangshan Prefecture (there is an overnight train from Chengdu to Liangshan Prefecture), then transfer to Yanyuan County and take a bus to Lugu Lake. Lugu Lake in Sichuan is far more beautiful than Lugu Lake in Yunnan. There are inns, grass seas and swamps by the lake, and you can stay for one night.

Take a bus to Luoshui (the place name on one side of Lugu Lake in Yunnan), then transfer to Lijiang and live in Dayan Ancient City or Shuhe Ancient City in Lijiang.
