Residential noise nuisance standards
The noise standard in residential areas is between 45 decibels and 55 decibels. 1. In a first-class community, which is mainly residential, including rural housing, if the noise exceeds 50 decibels at night, it is considered a noise nuisance. 2. In Category II communities, covering mixed housing and commercial areas, the noise at night should not exceed 65 decibels. And any sound made after 10 pm to 6 am the next morning is considered noise nuisance. 3. For residential areas under renovation, noisy construction is prohibited from 6pm to 8am the next morning to avoid disturbing residents.
Legal Basis
Article 46 of the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Noise Pollution volume or take other effective measures to avoid environmental noise pollution to surrounding residents.
