The history of Nanning tourism

Nanning is a city with a long history. As early as the Neolithic Age, ancient people were fishing, hunting and farming here. This place was once the territory of the "Baiyue" tribe. In 318 AD, it was established as a county and renamed "Jinxing". During the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Jinxing County was separated from Yulin County and became the center of Jinxing County. This was the first time that Nanning became both a county-level and a county-level administrative seat, which marked the beginning of Nanning's organizational structure. During the Tang Dynasty (634 AD), Nanning was renamed "Yongzhou". In the Yuan Dynasty (1324 AD), "Yongzhou" Road was renamed "Nanning Road" (administrative area), which means "tranquility in southern Xinjiang". This is where Nanning got its name. Historically, Nanning has always been known for its status as a transportation hub, and since the Song Dynasty it has become a fixed business center unlike other regions. During the Ming Dynasty, Nanning became the intersection center of Zuojiang River and Youjiang River, as well as the goods distribution center here, and gained the reputation of "Little Nanjing". In 1907, it became a port for foreign trade.

Nanning is also a legendary city with a heroic tradition. Here we have witnessed many heroes fighting to defend their homeland and the southern gate of China and to establish a new socialist China. For example, Su Min, an official of the Song Dynasty, led the army and the people to fight to the death against the invading Jiaozhi Army (today's Vietnam). There are also some well-known generals, such as Liu Yongfu and Feng Zicai, who were heroes in the Qing Dynasty's Anti-French War. They also participated in the 1911 Revolution of 1911, the May 4th Movement, the Northern Expedition, the Baise Uprising and the Longzhou Uprising, laying the foundation for the 7th and 8th Divisions of the Red Army and the liberation wars of Zuojiang and Youjiang. They also witnessed the Kunlun Revolution The defeat of the Japanese army in the Battle of Shanshan.

In 1958, Nanning became the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
