Tibet Diary (14): Encountered obstacles in the snow at Sejila Pass

It rained all night last night. I really had a cold. I had a sore throat and vomited phlegm all night. Got up after 6 o'clock this morning and set off after 7 o'clock. The sky is bright and it's still raining lightly. I walked through Bayi Town in a hurry, but I still couldn't see her true face clearly.

Because Linzhi Nanyigou is the hometown of the 6th Dalai Lama, the tour guide told many stories about the "living Buddha and loving companion" between Changyang Gyatso and Renxing Wangmu, and also read a lot about Changyang Gyatso wrote a widely circulated love poem.

The place we are heading east is the Lulang Forest Sea, which is dozens of kilometers away from Bayi Town in Linzhi and extends to more than 500 kilometers from Lhasa. The return journey will be even more difficult.

We have climbed up a 4,000-meter mountain and entered the National Forest Park Scenic Area. At about 8:30, just before crossing the Sejila Pass, we were surprised to find that snowflakes were already dancing outside the car window, and Lengbin Forest and the roadside were covered with thick snow! There was a heavy snowfall last night. It was the first snowfall in Sejila Mountain this year! We have entered the harsh winter from spring. Haha, it’s so refreshing. Where have I seen such a scene of heavy snow closing the mountains? !

The car moved forward slowly and carefully. It seemed that the wheels were slipping and the ground was unstable. The further we went towards the mountain pass, the deeper the snow became and the more obvious the ruts became.

Just when the people in the car were excited and filming wildly, the car stopped suddenly. Someone on the car wanted to go... This stop does not matter. When the car needs to start again (it is so cold, the engine must be kept at start state), but found that it could not move forward at all, and the tires kept slipping. Looking again, the vehicle behind was also forced to stop. The deep snow ruts made by passing vehicles ahead were extremely eye-catching and dazzling.

The snow was very deep. Taking this opportunity, some of us quickly picked up our cameras and ran out of the car.

I have never stepped on ankle-deep snow before (I have experienced this in Xinjiang before, but the snow was not so deep). There was a squeaking sound, and there were deep footprints. Everyone was very excited on the snow. I accidentally stepped into a deep "foot pit" in the snow, which was filled with melted snow water. I was not wearing waterproof shoes, and soon they got soaked. Fortunately, there was a heater in the car, otherwise It will be freezing to death.

The tourists in the same car also took advantage of the opportunity when the car skidded and could not start, and got out of the car to play in the snow. Especially tourists coming from the south - Shenzhen, Guangdong, where can they see such deep snow? Such a beautiful snow scene? A group of adults played in the snow like children, building snowmen, having snowball fights, and deliberately leaving footprints along the way. Unknowingly, when my feet started to get cold, I realized that each of my shoes was soaked in snow and my trousers were soaked...

The master called me to get on the bus and prepared to start driving. My friend Sister Zhao, who was traveling with me, recalled an experience of being stranded in the snow, and felt frightened and worried; some guests began to feel uneasy and complain. The master, whose surname is also Zhao, kept trying to start the car, but still couldn't. I also felt a little bit uneasy.

Some tourists got off the car again and helped the driver fill soil under the tires. My friend Brother Peng, who was traveling with him, hugged the soil on the ground with his bare hands and filled the sand under the wheels. The master quickly got a shovel and came down... After struggling for a long time, the car finally started moving forward again.

But the good times did not last long. There was a traffic jam ahead and the car had to stop again. Of course, it was difficult to move around again. This time the driver decided to put on the snow chains... He saw the Sportage next to him trying to overtake, but it also skidded and ran aground on the roadside; another Hyundai was also trying to save itself...

This unexpected incident The blizzard almost paralyzed the highway, and only the cross-country team was still moving forward. They deserved to have good qualities.

The emergency vehicle arrived and began to eliminate dangers. And on Sejila Mountain, there are still some construction vehicles and migrant workers standing guard, and the migrant workers even greeted us!

Close to 11 o'clock, vehicles began to pass normally. At this time, Sejila Pass is very close.
