Hometown of Spirulina —— Working and Traveling in Chenghai, Lijiang, Yunnan

My job is petroleum geological survey. I often go to work inside and outside the province and travel by the way. In the early 1980s, we went to work near Chenghai Lake in Yongsheng County, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, and traveled in Chenghai by the way. At that time, the scenery was very good, the road conditions were not good, and the spirulina farm had not been built. The company sent a car. On the first day, we set off from Kunming and walked nearly 200 kilometers to Chuxiong City. The next day, I also walked nearly 200 kilometers to Dali City. On the third day, I walked 100 kilometers, crossed Binchuan County, crossed Jinsha River and arrived at Yongsheng County. Later, I went to Chenghai to do petroleum geological survey and went to Chenghai.

At that time, Chenghai was beautiful and quiet, and the lake was clear, transparent and calm. Around the lake, there are not many people living and there are not many farmland. We also tasted Chenghai Lake, which was very sweet and delicious. There are only some trees and weeds on the hills around the lake. These mountains, volcanic rocks 200-300 million years ago, contain a lot of agate stones. In Chenghai, agate stones can be seen everywhere. I picked up a few fist-sized agate stones at random, but there were many holes formed by bubbles, which were ugly, and then I threw them away. I worked near Chenghai for a few days and returned to Kunming. Later, I went to Chenghai several times and a spirulina farm was established.

Spirulina is a tiny spiral plant floating on the water, and it is the most nutritious plant. Chenghai Lake is one of the only three freshwater lakes on the earth where spirulina grows naturally (in addition to Lake Chad in Africa and Lake Cocoa in Mexico), and it is a national geographical indication product protection site. Spirulina has the functions of enhancing immunity, preventing cancer, preventing three highs, resisting fatigue and resisting aging, and is the food for astronauts.

Chenghai, Yongsheng County, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, with an area of 77 square kilometers and an average depth of 25 meters, is a natural alkaline water lake with no pollution and clear water quality.
